Everyones gonna say Robinson just because he's Ray Robinson, but lets be honest, he's an old time fighter with a somewhat crude style. Pacquiao would give this guy some trouble. I'm not saying he'd beat him or not, but it's not a foregone conclusion.

Yes it is. At 147, Sugar Ray Robinson would beat his ass like a drum. Goddamn son.

Pacquiao could knock out the winner of Mayweather-Mosley, then knock out Paul Williams, and people will STILL say he would have no chance against SSR...so...pointless thread, really.

thats the biggest crock of **** ever and a pure myth, look at all the fighters today that are having trouble fighting for sustained periods in 12 rounds fights ( there are exception's Williams, Pacquioa, but I'm talking about on the whole),

where as old school fighters like Sugar Ray Robinson, Kid Gavilan, Roberto Duran, Ike Williams, Archie Moore, Jake LaMotta, Benny Lynch ( watch this guy in his prime against Jackie Brown and Peter Kane just no stop ferocious from first to last),

and even more recently fighters like Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvellous Marvin Hagler, Salvador Sanchez, Aaron Pryor to just name a fraction regularly went 15 rounds and finishing strong,

and I'm 18 years old by the way before you start saying that I some old guy thats bashing modern day fighters, I don't believe that, if your a great fighter your a great fight time has nothing to do with it, some are more stacked with quality than others thats all like ( 40's 50's 70's 80's early to mid 90's )

and another thing with all this modern training and all these advancements name one fighter thats better in techinc and fitness to a guy from the 40's Sugar Ray Robinson,

You know your statement doesn't hold any validity to it. The TS is assuming they meet at 147...Robinson WAS Superman at 147...Robinson didn't lose a fight in 9 years after he overturned his loss to Lamotta (on the same month no less.) If you can get any videos of him fighting at Welter I'd suggest you do so..you'll recognize this was the best version of a man who was arguably the greatest Welter and Middleweight ever....

yes and did you know that 16 of them happened after Robinson came out of retirement

at 34 years of age losing in his second comeback fight against Raplh Jone he next loss would happen 2 years later to Gene Fullmer so that means 15 of the losse' were after the age of 36 and 145 fights.

    his record when he first retired was 131 - 3 - 2

    "crude style"?

Just say you meant you couldn't get past the crude film techniques of the times and move on!

Indeed and those first two losses one was against a fellow hall of famer Jake Lamotta who outweighed him by ten pounds and the other was against the awkward brit Randy Turpin during Robinson's tour of europe where he was partying hard every night, both those losses were later avenged.

The third was against Joe Maxim for the light heavy title,a fight where Ray was winning before he colapsed from the intense heat that was felt in the ring.

Did a ******* start the thread? Every sane person knows SRR would KO Pac. The correct post would be:

"this thread is an example of how much Pachaters hate *******s. It would take someone like #1 ATG Sugar Ray Robinson who eventually fought as a middleweight to beat Pac in an ESB poll"

and even with out the partying side of things Turpin was an incrediable fighter when focused and on his game. if Turpin were around today I have no doubt he would be a superstar and unstoppable against are current middelweights, LaMotta to.
