It is very likely that Manny Pacquiao will face the winner of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez. A fight that will take place in July. More likely than not the winner will be ready to face a new foe most likely Pacquiao 5-7 months latter. A match up with the winner who I think will be Mayweatherwould most likely take place in December 09 to Febuarary 10. Meaning that Pacquiao would not have fought for 7-9 months sence his win over Ricky Hatton. There has been metion that he will face Miguel Cotto next. However I have my dobuts this will happen. Sure if Mayweather or Marquez chose to go in another driction than Pacquiao, Cotto may be next. However this would most likely be a catch weight fight if it happens at all. I would be shocked if Cotto was Pacquiao's "tune up" oponent before Mayweather or Marauez. It is also possible that Pacquiao will no fight till he faces Mayweather or Marquez, once again I think it will be Mayweather 7-9 months is a little long but not out of the question for a boxer at Pcquiao's level to wait between fights. However If Pacquiao is looking for a "tune up" fight Timothy Bradley may be the man for the job. Bradley is the curent WBO 147 lbs. Tittle holder and should also be the WBC tittle holder if he wasn't stripped for wining the WBO belt. He has wins over Junior Witter, Edner Cherry and Kendall Holt in his last three fights. Mabey not future Hall of Famers but quility wins. Undefted 24-0 but not a lot of power only 11 knockouts. Bradley may not be as high profile as Cotto but he is less risky, and right now with the very real prospect of a fight with Mayweather on the horizon which would bring more prestige and money than any other match up. I am not sure why Pacquiao would take that many risks. There also is no reason why Pacquiao vs Bradley could not be a super fight. First of all any fight with Pacquiao is a super fight. Second of all Bradley has won two tittle belts in his last three fights. Thirdly Bradley is from Palm Springs, California and Pacquiao trains for his fights in Hollywood, California, so perhapes the Staples Center in Los Angeles would be the ideal location for this match up.
I think Pac would win a close, possibly contested decision. Who knows though? Bradley is effective but doesn't hit THAT hard. He could outhustle Pac, but my feeling is that Pac wins. Bradley has a very good chin by the looks of things, doubt Pac would blow him away like he did Hatton, whose punch resistance has clearly dwindled. This fight won't happen, but I actually think it's a good fight to keep Pac busy until Nov-dec when he fights the winnoer Floyd-Marquez or Miguel Cotto. And Pac has had the WBC title at Fly, Super-Feather, Lightweight, so why not 140??? Oops, Bradley has been stripped!!!!
Pac knocks him the **** out. Holt had Bradley down twice. Pac blasts him out in 6 rounds. There is no one at 140 right now that can beat Pacquiao.
which is why the fight with Bradley should be made. Why let the 147 pounders be weight drained at a catch weight? Floyd obviously knows that 140 gives Pac any kind of advantage over him. He wouldn't take the fight if there's a risk. Bradley 140 Valero 140.....they're both undefeated. They are there for the taking!! One stumbling block though for Bradley: Gary Shaw.
Would you shut up about Valero? He hasn't done anything to earn the biggest shot in boxing. Bradley is at least in the correct weight division, and has proven himself against quality opposition. But unfortunately for him, he will probably be ignored by the bigger players of the game for a while yet.
god dammit, do I got a use my pimp hand to shut you up. Solis, Larios, Velasquez, 3-K Battery. Valero is in the same god damn league. But we all know Pac avoids fighters in their 20's..even overrated ones.:good
I am not saying Valero isn't a good fighter, nor am i saying he doesn't have a lot of potential. But he clearly isn't on the level of exposure required to fight Manny Pacquaio, nor is he in the right weight division. Its like saying Pac should fight Andre Berto at a catchweight, its just not significant enough to warrant it being made.
A couple of rounds. Pac's body is simply handling the weight increases too well for any light weight to trouble him, especially someone with no big fight, 12 round experience.
I think at this point he is probably looking for another 2 or 3 big fights, i would say he is beyond stay busy fights now. Cotto fights Clottey in a month, if he gets past him a Pac fight could probably be arranged in fairly reasonable time, negating the need for a stay busy fight.
Pac V Holt could be a banger and a good tune up for PBF, what would be the odds on seeing 5 knockdowns in the first round?
