I'm not gonna be arguing on this until we see a final arrangement or agreement . . . I'll just stick to my original opinion that I don't think that Team Pac will sign any contract until the belt is on the line.

I'll say team Pac is stupid to allow Pac to go up at 145 lbs and fight Cotto for nothing.

And for Cotto . . . would he still have the guts, pride and honor to raise that belt and call himself a welter Champ if he had already lost? That belt will be useless because people already knows he doesn't deserve it anymore.

 

The weight limit on Cotto's belt is 147, Cotto should be able to weigh 147 if his belt is on the line. That being said, if Pac wins, the belt wont count for much anyway. Pac should just give him the 2 pounds or drop it.... It will get decided in the ring either way.

WW limit or bust. What's a title fight if it's at a catchweight? Same horse**** DLH had going on when he fought Hopkins for all of his belts at 157.

It's not like Cotto has several belts and is the undisputed champ to begin with so not many if at all will be calling Pac the WW champ if he wins. Still haven't picked a winner yet but it is a competitive one on paper.

Let's just hope it last longer than the Hatton fight. Pac had me and half of ESB eating crow for days :!:

 

Think about it though.

If Cotto loses and the title is not on the line he'll still be WBO champion of the WW division.

That is much more ridiculous than Manny winning it when the fight is 'within' the WW boundries. 147 is the LIMIT. That number is there to STOP people from weight too much on fight night.

 

As a fan, sure... a title sounds nice. But allow the Champ to weigh in at his division's limit.

I don't like the terms. It's just too much. The welterweight champion defending his title should have the opportunity to defend it within the limit of 147. Let Cotto do so.

It's the system of 2day before weigh-ins that has ****ed up the divisions. We can't go back to same day weigh-ins but we'll just have to work with it. If Pac wants a fair fight at 145 then fight it like a non-title PPV fight. If he wants the welterweight title, then don't screw with the weight.

Yes he fought at 147 before but that was against De La Hoya who was coming from a higher weight.

147 was the middle ground. Pac was coming up 2 weight divisions.

Since then we've seen Pac at 140 and he looks devastating. This is the weight he should be fighting at.

 

Look man I know that its hard for some of you to understand but the weight limit is 147 not 145. If a fighter comes in at 145 and its his choice then thats one thing, but to have the other guy say that you have to weight 145 if not you have to pay 1 million per pound, and oh by the way you have to put your 147 pound title on the line to boot, just dont wash.

I dont like the catchweight fights at all but if fighters agree to it then its on them, but to try and demand or have one of the ABC groups back you in saying that a fight that isnt at the limit has to be for the title is bull****.

Funniest part is the Pac nut-ticks that keep talking about "OH, its only one pound" ...But if its only one pound then why is coto the one that has to lose it instead of pac being the one that puts it on??? What about that makes Cotto scared because he doesnt want to put his title on the line for it??? Its not about that, its about Cotto using what he has to get the fight were he wants it. Cotto wants the fight at 147 Pac wants the fight at 142 but says he will settle for 145, Cotto says I will meet you at 145 but not for my title...Whats the problem??? How does that make Cotto scared???

So Pac is fighting Cotto, a live, powerful, prime fighter (AND the man who BEAT Mosley) at 145 pounds which is 5 pounds ABOVE Pac's best weight limit and Pac has no balls. Ok then.
