I don't think a prime Morales would lose such a one sided fight vs Raheem he was awful in that fight, again vs Barrera in their 3rd fight you could see the signs that Morales was starting to fade. I think regarding Morales/Pacquiao 1 it was Pacquiao's first fight at that weightclass, he had horrible cut to contend with which was caused by a headbutt ? and he was still a bit raw. So Morales who was still a capable fighter who could take a punch, was able to take advantage of that and get a very solid win. But i don't think Morales was close to his prime was he still a very capable fighter ? absolutely. But looking at his form during that period he went 1-5 losing to fighters like Raheem, Diaz, who are not bad fighters. But i think these fights show aswell as the fairly convincing loss to Barrera that Morales was starting to fade.
I think Barrera beat him in their first fight. And of these 5 loses 2 were losses to Pacquiao, 1 was close loss to Barrera and 1 was a stylistic nightmare for him in Raheem (I think he would always beat Erik like Wright would always beat Trinidad). Diaz loss came in the higher weight class after 2 consecutive KO losses to Pacquiao that took a lot from Erik. I don't dispute that Erik wasn't in his prime, but he was still very, very good
Sure. He was still very good. But he was far removed from the El Terrible of old. On the same token Pac was still a very good and capable boxer when he lost to Horn, but he was far removed from the Pac of 08 and 09. For the record, regarding Morales, I actually scored all 3 fights for MAB in their trilogy, and I thought he won the first most decisively.
Thurman is the Iran Barkley to Pacquiao's Duran. On paper beating Barkley/Thurman isn't an all time level win but because of the circumstances it becomes one.
Using that comparison, I would say Pacquiao was significantly more spent by the time he fought Horn then Morales was in the second fight against him. I'd say Morales from the Diaz fight = Pacquiao from the Horn fight in terms of how far they were from their respective primes. But Diaz fight came after 2 consecutive KO losses that took a lot from Morales. I'd rather say the version if Pacquiao that got robbed against Bradley and was KOed by Marquez was the one we can compare to the version if Morales from Pacquiao rematch. As for MAB vs Morales, I scored first fight for Barrera, rematch for Morales and third fight for Barrera. Third fight was very, very underrated BTW. I find it to be one of the most exciting fights of the last 25 years, top 10 for sure
