Manny Pacquiao's Defensive Slips & Counters

Pacquiao is low key slick.

He went through Mayweather (some jabs and counters, but barely anything), Rios, Algieri, Hatton, Oscar, Vargas, Bradley (III), and Mosley virtually untouched.

 

Pacquiao was superb defensively but he quite simply had no qualms about getting into wars and taking hard shots. He was a showman through and through

 

Mayweather mentioned he was a lot harder to land on than he expected. And yes, he virtually landed nothing except for the first rd right hand.

Margarito fight has some great sequences with Pacquiao blocking, dodging and countering at the same time during exchanges of combinations.

 

Its underrated in the same way Floyd's offence was underrated imo.

I noticed in the first jmm fight he pacman, was using a lot of head movement. That was his "old" style he always said his fav fighter is Mike Tyson, perhaps some self training slipped in and made him like that lol. But yeah it is what it is, hurky jurky head movement. Until he was trained more with Freddie Roach who helped refine his style.

 

When he got older his ring iq really improved and he waa alot better at countering and defense.

 

His defense, counter punching and ring IQ has always been his most underrated asset and it still is to this day. He has an unorthodox style of fighting that works well for him. Outside of JMM and his much earlier fights he rarely gets dropped in the ring.

 

Because that wasn't a fight where Pac was virtually unhittable?
