Pac relied to much on his athleticism on his younger days.
The way he flew 4 feet across the ring in a second to fire the straight left hand on barrera was unreal.

Pac eventho aging is still evolving as a fighter this is clearly demonstrated in the bradley fight he lured bradley into traps over commiting zapping bradley's energy in return

At 36 and after all that wear and tear from those wars though...

Even if Pac evolves as a more technical sound boxer, would it really be enough?? Especially if he is fighting up and coming fighters with age advantages on their side.

I guess only time will tell..

Floyd Mayweather has been able to do it up to this point in time... I think because he has always been a technically inclined boxer.
He was able to further shift into a more defensive boxer-counter puncher as he aged in his career.

Yet even Floyd Mayweather started to receive punishment in his more recent fights. Maidana and Berto landed a few solid punches on Floyd... punches that he most likely would have avoided even 3 years ago.

However Floyd still has enough ring defense fundamentals to minimize such punishment.. because of his style and ability to adjust the style to best suit his age. Can Floyd maintain this if he decides to come back from retirement??? Who knows.

    Back to Manny though.......
How would Freddie Roach further update his gym regimen to lesson potential damage for Manny in his last few fights??
You think Freddie Roach is too one dimensional as a coach
to really re-adjust Manny as he ages???

Pacquiao has ALWAYS relied on his athleticism to make up for his technical flaws.

If a trainer taught a fighter that kind of footwork, he'd be called a bad trainer.

Pac's footwork is good and works for Pac. However it's not conventional and I doubt it would work for many others. So you're never going to see it being taught.

He's become much more of a boxer puncher after his knockout. It's aggravating because he'll use that same in and out footwork when he's training. He looks fine doing it. However, when he gets in the ring, he does something different and won't use it. Roach has touched on this. I think a part of it largely has to do with the KO.

A lot of these mother ****ers don't know about offensive footwork.

First of all, even with Floyd bein on steroids and Pac bein injured, he still whupped Floyd's ass. Ask Evander Holyfield who won.

It was indisputable. Damn judges robbed him.

How can a man land more punches, beat his opponent up more, hurt his opponent more, and make the fight, not win the fight??

    It was a damn travesty.

Secondly, Pac had great footwork. It was explosive. Most of you on here have never been able to explosively use your feet because you either never tried or you don't know how to. Mike Tyson had the same type of explosive footwork.

The difference is that Pac could walk you around the ring. Pac had some of the best offensive footwork in boxing.

The guy that impresses me the most with his footwork today is Lomachenko.

Mother ****er is talented. Rigo also has good footwork, but it's bltchmade.

    Pac's feet are shot.

His in-and-out-rhythm was a thing of beauty back when he faced De La Hoya. He has regressed steadily in that regard, at least dating back to the Mosley fight.

True, but JMM definitely was on the JUICE.

That's huge advantage when you got a guy with JMM's experience. A younger fighter may be able to punch with that much power and have an engine that runs deep, but he won't have the timing and experience to land a punch like that on Pac.

JMM most likely wouldn't have done it either if he fought clean and fair. He would have overtrained.

Sure, age and natural wear & tear are almost certainly the main culprits. Just pointing out that there was a time, when Pac had an incredible in-and-out rhythm, at that those days are long gone.

The one thing that surprised me most about Pac-Floyd, was the discrepancy in foot speed (not footwork). Pac looked really slow on his feet.
