Hey, nobody can change history, but's let's be realistic.

    Floyd was on steroids.

We know this. You know this. There is EVIDENCE about this.

    Floyd was CLEARLY on steroids.

The funny thing is, Marquez was on steroids, Floyd was on steroids, and only Pac wasn't on steroids, yet people accused Pac of being on steroids when the evidence was PILED high against JMM and Floyd.

Except for against; floyd, morales, bradley, jmm 3 and jmm 4?

That in and out offbalanced stuff isn't sustainable.

Pacquiao's footwork wasn't anything special. Pacquiao's unconventional style in conjunction with his speed is what made it difficult for most against him.

The nitwits over at HBO always marveled at Pacquiao's footwork without realizing the fights that made it seem Pacquiao had amazing footwork was against lead footed fighters like Cotto, Margarito, and Delayhoya, all fighters who are slow of foot.

Along with his speed and southpaw stance, Pacquiao had an uncanny ability to get power into his punches while seemingly having his feet set not to be able to throw with such power. That more than anything is what made it difficult for most of his opposition.

Forget about Pacquiao having amazing footwork. That footwork was never better than Marquez' who through every one of their fights always beat Pacquiao to the spot.
Freddie Roach always said that the key for Manny to beat Marquez was to keep his lead foot to the outside of Marquez' lead foot. They practiced it a lot during training camp, but come fight night, Marquez always beat him to that spot and it was Marquez' lead foot that was most often outside of Pacquiao's.

Of course Pac's style doesn't age as well as Mayweather's. That said, his footwork - even at his best - didn't always deliver the goods against a top technician like Marquez anyway.

I'm not entirely sure the change in style is totally down to decline either - obviously it's part of it, but I think KTFO6 took something from him. They were match-making him afterwards to try and get as much of it back as they could - Rios, Algieri - but not sure it will ever return.

He was great to watch, but I don't think his footwork was ever intelligent. It was just blindingly fast in combination with really quick hands. Incredible to watch at its best - but that best generally came against guys who planted their feet.

Pacquiao's footwork is not the main problem the prob is the kid has no inside game! he has to launch in miss and does nothing but clinch. If the kid had an inside game he wouldn't have so much problem with counter punchers who ctrl the distance.

^ You know you raise a good point regarding inside game..

I was just re-watching the May 2nd fight and always wondered...
those instances when Floyd clinched Manny on the inside.......

How successful can you train to actually punch off while being in one of Floyd's clinches?? Would a guys like Manny be able to say throw an uppercut or body shot while being held like that? If Freddie Roach specifically focused their regimen catered towards that...

Maidana resorted to wild, swinging looping punches to neutralize Floyd's clinches (to a degree I guess)

I wonder how different of an outcome it would have been if Manny did similar while on the inside...
