Pacquiao's in underrated in so many areas, thats why he performs so well in fight cause people only prepare for his speed and power.

    hahahaha... just STFU.

I guess Floyd was already pre-countering even if they we're still in thier locker room before the fight.

Manny can counter, but he doesn't do it often enough. Most of the time, he throws with his opponent and lands first due to his speed; very effective strategy, but different than counter-punching. Manny's quickness and odd punching angles really give him the perfect template for a counter-puncher, but his mentallity is to attack. I believe he'd be a better fighter if he picked his spots and chose when to box and when to slug.

Where is this thread about "pre-countering" because I'm sure to put that along the "Floored" thread and the "Mosley nearly flushed KD FMJ but he dropped Pac so FMJ is better" and the "Mayweather has a more solid chin than Margarito" threads.

It's called a "punch" you dimwits.
    "Pre-counterpunch."
    I can't stop LMFAO. :rofl

BTT, of course he can and as the posted gifs show, he is good with it.
I especially like the right hook-roll over counters and the lead left counter over the jab then side step to the right.:good

Funny haters should mention he can't counter boxers with good ring movements when nearly all the solid punches that he landed on JMM were counters.:rofl

So that's what the Manila Ice actually is:

    A pull-pre-counterpunch

    I disagree.

He is countering and he knows he is countering.
It's kind of obvious when he just beat his opponent to the punch vs countering.

Pac-DLH shows a lot of "beating the old fighter to the punch" scenarios.
That solid right hook that nearly KD Margarito is a good counterpunch which he also threw at JMM quite frequently, only it didn't land as much (for obvious reasons).

That would depend upon your definition of what a counterpunch is.

If two guys throw at the same time, but only one guy lands because he's faster...

    That 'aint it.

Yes, Pac can counterpunch pretty well, but I don't see much of it in those particular GIFs. Well, they ARE pretty small, and I'm too tired to study them closely, so maybe but I don't think so.

FWIW, When Floyd counters, he REALLY counters, including that patented check-hook. Pac's counters are not typically on that level, IMO.

Ah, I see Englund beat me to it.

Well, I agree with him, but just regarding those particular GIFs.

If a fighter who is still thinking of throwing a punch is pre-counterpunched, then why in the hell would a fighter who is throwing at the same time but being hit fatsre by the faster fighter be not considered a counter?:lol:

It just does not make sense!

See the hook, roll under in the ricky hatton fight. Hatton threw the same time as Pac yet Pac's punched arrived earlier. That is a counter if you use the logic that a fighter who has not thrown a punch yet and in fact is till hesitating whether to throw a punch or not, just got punched./:lol::lol:

This is bordering on the FLOORED thread.

    Epic thread.

    Pre counters?

Only on ESB. When I'm at the gym that's what I'll start preaching, it's not about counters but pre counters.

Pac's the most dangerous counterpuncher in the game. This is why you hardly see anyone get brave with him. Timid Tim might, so maybe you'll see more of those vintage Pacquiao kds. Look at it this way, Pac countering you and knocking you the **** out is so scary a proposition, that he is forced to "make" the fight. That's why I think all this flack he gets over his "lackluster" performances are unwarranted...being it takes two to tango, and usually it's only Pac doing the tangoing while he other guy is doing some sort of 2-step....backwards.

Yes! he might be the greatest off balance counterpuncher of all time along with JMM. The reason they were able to get off many combos without needing the proper balance. Second and third fights were beautiful tactical fights that display two all time great FW's (former FWs in the case of the third fight) going at it. Also, Manny's stepback right hook counter is a great thing to watch.

Okay, so all Floyd fans can add this to the long list of Pac's flaws.

    Can't counter
    Amateurish
    Sloppy punch
    Can't cut off the ring
    No skill
    Can't fight moving opponents
    Can't fight counter punchers

But when Floyd was asked if he wants to fight Pac, he said HIS HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT! LMFAO!!!! :rofl

His daddy even said he worries about his son's life! LMFAO!!! :rofl:rofl
