First I was more of a FMJ hater than supporter but this is the way I see things:

    1. FMJ plays the bad guy and people expect this. It has made him money and he played this to his advantage.
    2. Manny plays the "good guy" which has played to his advantage.

The problem? Manny isn't as good as he appears. If Manny is "all about the fans/people etc" then he would have given the people the fight they want to see; even at the expense of money and demands. I mean isn't that what "social service" is all about? At one point it appeared clear he was avoiding Mayweather. I have a problem with him because I see Manny just as shrewd as Mayweather but he gets a pass because he is inherently seen as "good."

Mayweather now appears to be ducking Manny and in many cases he does seem to be doing that. So they both are guilty. Can he be blamed RIGHT NOW? No; Manny has a fight with Shane.

People say mayweather picks easy opponents and doesn't take challenges. Yet they forget his last fight was against a 'perceived' re-invigorated p4p WW and not only won but "took the fight" to Shane. Hindsight is 20/20 regarding shane; but no one knew that going in.

People say Manny has taken on "all the greats of the divisions." Yet they don't look at the catch weights and mandations that really are silly when fighting for WW titles and whatnot.

In reality I think it is fair to say those points are pretty valid and fair. I also think that this fight is dangerous for both fighters as it clearly will distinguish the best fighter in the world. I can't say Manny is "tailor made" to Mayweather as many people say. Manny is very fast, very unpredictable and unorthodox which would give even the best fundamental boxer fits (RJJ Vs James Toney is a good example). However it is also equally stupid to think that Mayweather couldn't win either. He is better preserved, is deceptively powerful, and very very intelligent (in the ring).

At the end of the day, they both are equally responsible for the fight being made or not made. Manny tends to hide behind his promoter and also appeal to the ethos of "right" when that virtuous ideology impossible to have in boxing. Mayweather tends to get overly self-righteous and overly emotional. BOTH men need to step up to the plate and just fight...."for the people."
