This guy is a JOKE he can only train Heavys Jermain Taylor,Prince Hamed,Andy Lee, Kermit Cintron The Cintron **** pissed me off the most you mean to tell me that in 3 ****ing years MANNY?? 3 YEARS and even after someone else showed u how to beat Margarito in the paul williams fight movement Cintron pays u all that money and you can only get him to LAST one more ****ing round than in the 1st fight they had one ROUND many told kermit in corner "DONT TAKE A STEP BACK" u got to be kidding me **** manny steward really **** him...
Boxing doesn't really work like that (only making him survive 1 more round). But I do agree, he's not the trainer he once was. Still one of the very best, though.
Last night was one of his poorest performances as a trainer. He is not the of the same caliber, and does not give attention to his fighters like he once did. I honestly think the only one he cares about right now is Wlad.
I agree. Steward's fighters, for the most part, keep their left hand low. But very few of them actually have the head movement to pull this off. Look at Andy Lee, Jermain Taylor, and Kermit Cintron. All had huge defensive holes that led to KO losses. He's never had great inside fighters either. Steward trains stand-up boxers.
I hate to say it but i agree 100% its really sad he says some of the most FOOLISH things he told kermit "Dont back up at all" when i heard that i turned to my boy and said cintron wont get to round 9 . How can he not see that cintron was getting KILLED standing in the pocket????...
You are right the only fighter he trained that I can think of that even had a decent inside game because of the uppercut is Lewis.
Terrible advice on Steward's part. Cintron should have been giving lateral movement and using his jab from the get-go. Did he want to get Kermit KO'd?
That low left hand thing drives me crazy. It's like there is a left hand magnet in the Kronk logo on the shorts that pulls a fighter's hand down to his waist. You have to be very quick and have great head movement to get away with that. Neither Lee, Taylor, or Cintron fit that mold. If they can't keep an opponent at bay with a jab and grab while setting up the right hand, they are in trouble. You could see it when Ouma was backing up Taylor. I'm still bothered by the fact that Steward left Cintron after the fight to work the Cotto/Gomez broadcast.
i honestly think his eyes when he sits ring side for HBO and the eyes that he has in the corner are two diffrent SETS when he works for HBO he says "This fight is going exactly how i thought it was going to go a computer print out" but when he is in the corner of his fighter after his fighter GETS brutally Ko'd what does he say " Man i am really really surpised i didn't think he was that fast i am very surpised by that man tonight he did a great job"
Manny Steward can't jump in the ring and fight for his fighters. He trains them, gives them direction, then it's up to them to actually FIGHT and make it happen.
In fairness to Steward, he's been with some of the greatest ever in the sport. It is hard for him to get motivated to train up and comers. I think he is a bit halfhearted in customising training techniques to individual fighters and he more after the money these days.
are u kidding me? this post is wrong on so many levels but ill just say this manny telling that kid to not take a step back is the single most BRAIN dead trainer advice i have EVER EVER heard cintron paid steward to tell him out get his ass kicked
This aint Golf these guys have to deal with pains from these fights for the rest of they lives MANNY NEEDS TO RE THE **** TIRE!!!! :fire
