So far, this thread has gone exactly how I expected it to.

 

I see this thread weakening over time, but for the most part it is doing a good job, but I see this thread weakening down the stretch.

 

This has been done before.

I recall a thread that was made some time ago regarding wasted talent Jorge Linares has to be one of the most gifted boxing specimens I have ever had the pleasure of seeing on tv, it's unfortunate the way his career has transpired and the interesting part is I can't even blame his chin it's not even that bad....how do you fix a fighter of that caliber....what a uniquely mind boggling conundrum

 

He got paper skin.

He actually said "this (Jorge Linares) seems to be one of the best boxers I've ever seen in my life". The proclamation wasn't as bad as it seemed. One should be able to agree, Linares has the most aesthetically pleasing style in the ring. His style and form is similar to a Ken Griffey Jr. swing in baseball. Comes off effortless and elegant, even. Too bad he has a bad chin

 

Manny also said Andy Lee could beat Kelly Pavlik shortly after Pavlik knocked out Jermain Taylor.

From a technical point of view, he may have a point. Linares throws punches with precision, speed, good form, he puts combinations together extremely well and his movement in the ring is very good. It just so happens that he has paper skin, weak chin and weak defense.

Boxing really does require everything. You can have all the talent but if you're missing one thing, could be where you fall short.
