Tyson wanted to unify the titles first (Moorers IBF title was next after Holyfield) and also the Holyfield fight meant more money and unfinished business.

Exactly, Lewis KNEW he wasnt going to get Tyson out of there early, hence why he took his time. He was cautious because he knew he coudl be caught. He didnt want to end up like Botha.

However i dont think Lewis coudlnt have got Tyson out of there any earlier than he did

lennox beat the worst shell of a guy that used to be mike tyson...something danny williams did 2 fights later and then kevin mcbride after that
congrats to Lewis for being in that murders row of guys that gave tyson his 3 losses out of his final 4 fights all by ko.

Lewis wanted to break Tyson, not only physically, but mentally as well.

Lewis demolished all that there was of Tyson till naught but a shell remained.

I'm not sure man, I think he probably could have. The same way Wlad can get a lot of these people out of there sooner than he does, he is just very cautious.

IMO I don't think Steward would have screamed at Lewis for him to get him out of there if he thought there was a high possibility of it going wrong, but Lewis jut chose to play it safe. Mike wasn't much more than a name at this point.

Sorry but i don't buy into all that steward is saying here.. Tyson and lewis were on different paths when they started out. Tyson was unbelievably gifted and successful at what he did from the very beginning whereas lewis was not. I always thought lewis fought like an amateur with an average chin when he was younger but later on in his career he became a much better fighter, whereas tyson was not near to what he was when he and lewis finally got it on.

You do realise Tyson's prime consisted in beating not very good heavyweights ?
His management was renowed for giving him fights he could win and avoid hungry fighters.

How would have reacted prime Tyson when hit with the same punch that floored Ruddock ?

Lewis had much harder one punch KO power than Tyson, and the reach and athleticism to land it.

Not saying it's a slam dunk, but i make the matchup 50-50.

    Excuse me?

He beat every single fighter in the top 10 and won the title, he completely cleared out the division.

    Please explain yourself?

    Tim Witherspoon ?
He gave Holmes all he could handle.

Later on, Tyson ducked Mercer, Bowe, probably never wanted to face prime Holy or Lewis.

Which fighters did Tyson avoid? Name me some of these fighter tyson avoided while at his peak?

Tyson had cleaned out the division to such a point that the only credible fight left for him was a match with then undefeated undisputed CW champion (Holyfield)

Doesnt matter, when they did fight Tyson took all Lewis could offer before going down. I dont think Lewis is knocking out a younger, much better Tyson, any faster.

How would LENNOX react to the punches Tyson and Ruddock were hitting each other with?

    And you know this because?

Yet he still lost and Tyson Kod Holmes in 4

The reason why they didnt fight is because Witherspoon lost to Smith (who Tyson beat for the WBA title) and plus Don King and Carl King promoted/managed Tim and because they were annoyed with him, they blackballed him. Even if they had fought, Tyson would have beat Witherspoon

Tyson never ducked Mercer. They were scheduled to fight in 2002 around the same time Tyson fought Lewis and Mercer fought Wlad. Tyson pulled out and fought Lewis instead for more money. Why would Tyson duck someone limited like Mercer? Mercer is known for what exactly?

Tyson never fought Bowe because both are from the same neighbourhood and agreed not to fight each other. The other reason is because Tyson lost to Holyfield and Bowe retired around the same tiem after the Golota fights. When Tyson was in his prime Lewis/Bowe were still fighting in the olympics. By the time Bowe hit his prime, Tyson was locked up.

Tyson never ducked Holyfield, they were scheduled to fight until Buster Douglas caused the upset. Then Holyfield, instead of facing Tyson, decided to face Foreman. They were both then scheduled to fight but Tyson ended up in prison

The only time u can accuse Tyson of ducking is the late 90s where he just wanted to collect as much money with as little effort as possible.

Tim Witherspoon was ****ed over by King, there was a documentary which he talked about it himself.

He was also knocked out by Bonecrusher Smith inside a round, which didn't help.

You say later on, who was Tysons 'management' later on? Don King

They had plenty of time to fight in 1996. Instead Tyson went after Mathis jr, the biggest bonanza for the least threat.

Tyson could have fought Holy before going to prison on nov 8 1991 but chose to pullout with an alleged rib injury.
When Tyson did decide to face Holy in 1996, Evander was perceived to be on life support after a surprising stoppage loss to Bowe.
Tyson was kod, and when a rematch was arranged, Tyson tried to get out again citing a cut eye. When he did enter the ring, he anyway found a quick way out.

A few years later, Tyson tried again to get out of a difficult fight by biting Lewis on his thigh.

    2002 ?
    Are you kidding ?
He could have faced him anytime after getting out of prison.
Another case of Tyson waiting for good oponnents to get washed up before facing them.
