He told taylor to stop boxing and slug with pavlik. taylor should have dropped him like a bad habit 2 fights ago. how do you tell a fighter he is losing the fight when he just got done demolishing the guy in the 2nd round. taylor should have moved and boxed instead of listening to steward. goddammit I just lost 3,000 dollars...Manny Steward you Son of a *****
... The only people who had Taylor winning that fight was Dibella and 3 paid off judges. Manny did the right thing. And Taylor himself felt he was losing.
I thought Pavlik was actually outboxing him pretty bad after the second round. Apparently the judges were the only ones who didn't realize it because Steward seemed too . . .
Taylor was being outboxed. I dont what the judges were watching, so that wasnt even working for Taylor . Out boxed and out slugged.
Regardless of the reason, Taylor and Manny haven't made a good match. That's a partnership that needs to end.
Even Taylor thought he was behind on the cards in the post fight interview. So if both Steward and JT felt they were behind, it makes me wonder what the judges were watching.
what fight were you watching. taylor was landing the cleaner shots ( as evidenced by compubox) and the more telling shots. all he had to do was box and move against the bigger guy. why would steward tell hiom to stand and trade like a ****ing idiot. steward should have realized jermain was gassed after the 2nd round (which is another story). yet he tells him to keep trading. the judges saw the right fight jermain was winning easily on points.
I agree 100% Sam. Manny seems to want him to be more defensive and cautious, which is all wrong for someone like Taylor. He needs a coach who is gonna put his offense back together and keep him throwing punches in bunches for a full 12 rounds. Defense is not his thing. It never was.
And Kelly Pavlik said in the post fight interview he thought he was winning the fight. I thought he was winning the fight too. Damn judges
the judges saw the same fight i saw taylor winning easily, pavlik was not outlanding jermain who had the higher connect percentage. the judges had the fight right pavlik was down big and that son of a ***** steward couldn't see that.
I take back my earlier statement then. 3 crooked judges, Dibella and one dumb ass ESB poster thought Taylor was winning the fight. Happy now?
Kelly was throwing more and harder punches, Taylors jabs were mostly blocked while Pavliks jabs were snapping Taylors head each time. PAvlik was the aggressor, pressing the action. Taylors punch stats were great because of the 2nd round where he threw everything but a kitchen sink at Pavlik and most connected.
