Andy just made a mistake Wlad did against brewster and that was he just punched himself out. That happens to alot of good fighters when they just go in too confidant thinking that their opponent won't be able to take their shots. As a fighter don't you want your trainer being confident of you. After all he is supposed to be your number one supporter.

I agree on Adameks aggressiveness, its funny you bring that up because from about the 6th round or maybe late into the 5th round as soon as Adamek started to land a few more rib punches Banks started to unravel a bit. And I have to agree with you on the fact that Banks did not have a gameplan going in, which is probably where we need to look at the people in charge of Banks, whether it be his chief trainer or Emanuel Steward. Personally if one of my fighters was having his 1st title fight I would have to make sure I was present. Stewards presence alone could have had a sub conscious effect on Banks and he may have received better instructions when he went back to his corner. I mean nobody can say for sure but I think the presence of Steward could have made Banks feel more confident as he looked a bit rattled at times until the time of the stoppage.

Yeah i totally agree...First title fight you have to be there which really reinforces my thinking that since Bashir who worked under emanuel when the Kronk Gym was up, now has total control over Banks. The only other reason why Steward was not there could have been the diaz vs marquez fight but Steward has flown from Spain where Wladimir trains to the USA for fight broadcasting on HBO before.

Well as I trainer I respect what he does, although he kind of seems like one of these diva trainers who want tons and tons of cash to train anyone like they hold the holy key to winning championships.

As far as a commentating goes, he's ****. He wrongly predicts a lot of things and often flip flops his opinions many times during the course of a fight. His predictions are prety much garbage as he wrongly predicted that Marquez would tire during the Diaz fight. Or how he was telling Rocky Juarez to go strictly for head shots to try and KO Chris John at the end of their fight. WTF?! That's something that an amateur says that doesn't have a clue about what they're talking about. If you want to finish a guy in no matter what round, going to the body is essential.

The body is the key I agree. It hurts me lol to see when a fighter neglects bodywork or does not try to goto the body. As a trainer if I was a trainer I would make sure that this would be pretty much up there in the high priority list of things to work on or to implement during a fight.

Do you think Steward actually thought Banks would win lol?
I think Steward kind of had a feeling that his fighter may not do so well.
Maybe he didn't want to have to be the one to pick up the pieces afterwards, just a thought. He seems a bit like a mercenary, almost like he shows favouritism amongst the fighters in his camp, i.e. andy lee and co...

No i agree with you on that...he has mentioned many times Wladimir is his number one guy. Plus like i said before Bashir is really the one in charge of Banks and during the press conference Steward said that Ademek is a tough SOB.

Manny Steward actually is the only one who seems to know what he's talking about during HBO fights. And I don't blame him for Taylor. Taylor simply refused to change until he got KO'd. I don't have any idea how someone could hate the guy. I'm getting tired of all the crybaby's whining about HBO commentating in general because it's still a hell of a lot better than the other channels.
I'm still a little confused about the Banks thing considering Manny does not train Banks. He manages him.

It is actually fun picking on them. I don't watch fights to listen to them scream and talk about there fighters. I do get satisfaction when there fighters lose though. I can't stand when they cheerlead. I can't remember the actual fight or if it was even a HBO or Showtime fight, but I remember a commentator saying "he can't even crack an egg" and pow, there is a KO. It could have been a Acero Sanchez fight back in the day.

I have always enjoyed Steward's work on HBO, and I feel he's a great trainer (for the right fighters). However, I was quite shocked and disappointed he did not show up for his fighter's (Banks) world title bout.:verysad

Even if you don't like his commentating or think he is over-rated as a trainer, you don't need to be so blatantly disrespectful of the man. I mean WTF is wrong with you? You'd think the guy ran over your dog or something.

In case you hadn't noticed he is somewhat of a legend in the sport. I met him and he is a true gentleman through and through. After the second Hopkins-Taylor fight, he spoke with me for a while about the fight and the fight game in general and could not have been nicer. He gave me his cell phone # and was happy to talk boxing on the two occasions that I actually decided to call him to see if the # actually worked.
