The point is not that Cotto is like DLH...Cotto can and will fire back..and often too ! I am just referring to the plan of going about in his fight.

Pacquiao should not waste his advantages against a guy that needs to plant his feet like I mentioned above. Cotto will be the one moving forward anyways....

I expect Pac to fight Cotto like he did with Oscar, which is smart.

 

Good game plan for PAC! Which means he'll only get in to a war with Cotto for half of the fight.....for however long that is. PAC doesn't run even if that is the game plan. It's just not in his DNA. PAC should fight smart with Cotto who will be the far larger and stronger man in the ring.

 

It might be funny b/c PAC can most certainly outbox and out speed Cotto. He just can't get into a Toe to Toe war with him for too long. Eventually Cotto will trade and he'll be able to catch the faster more elusive Manny if PAC gets too overconfident. Cotto is a good boxer but he'll have no answers for the speed and offense that PAC will have.

I doubt Cotto ever really finds his rythm in this one. His size and strength will help Miguel make this interesting but I think the class difference will be evident early on. Cotto best shot is to come in and try to blitz and steamroll PAC....not the other way around.

Once PAC hits his stride by rd 5...that is when Mguel is going to start to slow given his past track record with having spotty stamina. Early the better for cotto....the longer it goes the least likely Cotto has.

Im glad someone else has picked up on that fact than cotto has to plant his feet to throw the bombs. Manny does not have to plant his feet because he is explosive and extrememly fast. I honestly think cotto is going to be in for a big surprise in the very first round when he gets hit with a straight left or a right hook. I wonder however if manny is planning to put on weight to even out the weight disparity. Nothing crazy, just a few pounds so that he can rehydrate to 152-54. It would make sense if hes planning to fight PBF or some other 147 lb fighter after cotto.

Come to think about the 145 weight thing might have been roachs plan all along. Because there isnt a chance in hell manny is going below 140 again. Why not let his body fully adjust to 147 as thats where the mega fights are. I would be shocked and worried for cotto if manny was the same size as him on the scales and on fight night.

the rule is there for all to see. The use of a smaller ring is only in the case of it not being practical or possible.

MP will do the same things he has done in the recent past. In and out, lateral movement, hit Cotto from weird angles. IMO, the only thing that MP should not do like he had been doing is fight toe to toe against Cotto. I think that would be disastrous for him.
