    Yep I said it.

Everything is relative. It doesn't matter who has the better defense over the course of their careers all that matters is who has the better defense on Saturday night.

Usain Bolt may be the fastest man on the planet but put him in a race against an average professional baseball player running from 1st to 2nd on contact and the baseball player will win every time.

How does this apply to Manny's defense being better than Floyd's? Well we have heard it over and over again.

Pacfan 'Floyd's shoulder roll doesn't work against southpaws!'

Floyd**** 'Floyd doesn’t use his should roll he will be using his high guard.’

Okay but that begs the question is Floyd’s high guard even close to as good as his shoulder roll. Is it even as good as Manny’s high guard? If both fighters will be using the high guard then the question of who has the better defense on fight night comes down to who has the better high guard, not who is historically the better defensive fighter.

Just as a sprinter is not as fast as a baseball player going from 1st to 2nd Floyd isn’t the best defensive fighter evah when he isn’t using his primary defense. He certainly doesn’t have the best high guard. He doesn’t have a great high guard. I would argue that it isn't even good.

Watching this video from badlefthook made this difference really clear to me.

Notice the depth of Manny’s high guard defense, the body movement, the tightness, the arm movement, the trip hammer counters. Manny truly is a master of the high guard defense. Best eveh??? No, but amongst the elite.

Now compare that to the fights that Floyd really used his high guard.

His high guard is very very basic. It more like the high guard you will see from an kid first learning the defense. It doesn’t go far beyond the basic guard position. His guard tends to be wide because he doesn’t have the instincts and practice to see through the guard. The body movement isn’t there. The arm movement isn’t there.

All the little things that great high guard fighters do that sets them apart Floyd doesn’t do. His high guard is the epitome of basic. Manny’s high guard is better than Floyds.

    So

Pacfan 'Floyd's shoulder roll doesn't work against southpaws!'

Floyd**** 'Floyd doesn’t use his should roll he will be using his high guard.’

Pacfan ‘And Manny has a better high guard so for this fight Manny has the better defense.’

    Wait, what?

So, in this scenario, does Bolt have to actually swing and hit bat on ball and score a base hit (actions his body is completely unused to and untrained for) andthen run? Did you mean to say run a double, from home to 2nd? Or did you mean to say home to 1st?

Or do both he and the ballplayer just have to run from home to 1st (or 1st to 2nd, or home to 2nd...whatever you meant) starting at the exact same time?

If Bolt were trained for hitting the ball, he'd make it to base almost every time, simply because of his speed.

He'd probably be great at stealing bases.

And here comes the first Floyd**** trying to attack the ****ogy rather than the post.

And he can't even get that ****ing right.

It's not my problem of you don't know what first to second on contact means genius. That is your ****ing problem.

Que Floyd**** #2 who again doesn't even understand the ****ogy.

Better to remain silent and be thought the fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

I knew the **** heads would try to attack the anology rather than the boxing. But it's not my fault they are ****ing morons. I'm not going to change my posts to accommodate their stupidity.

That's like saying you shouldn't paint your house because you have an ******* neighbor who will complain. It's not your problem it's theirs. You cant change your life to accommodate the assholes.

    Let's use another baseball anology.

Randy Johnson had 3 pitches fastball, slider and curveball. Was his curveball great just because he was Randy Johnson?

No for a professional curve ball it was ****. But it provided a little different look. Floyd's high guard is ****ogous to Randy Johnsons curve ball. It's effective as something different but on its own it isn't even good much less what you would expect from a professional.

Yeah because your ****ogy is ****ing stupid

I don't even know anything about baseball but a baseball player isn't getting ANYWHERE faster than bolt, his whole game is to react quickly and then get to the destination quickly.

Well you are dead wrong and obviously not a boxer ot athlete of any type.

If you think that bolt can take a base running position, turn and run on contact faster than someone who actually does that professionally than you are an ignorant couch potato dumbass. There are subtle skills involved that make it a much different athletic task than an Olympics 100 meter sprint. A baseball player would be halfway to the base before bolt even realized that he needed to run.

I didn't say run faster I said get from first to second faster running on contact. It's a different skill set than sprinting out of the blocks.

    You are just stupid.

Now are you ever going to address Floyd's bad high guard?
