If you get past the obvious click bait title and get down to his ****ysis it's actually sound. I was mugging him off a little bit earlier but went back and watched the Floyd/Judah tape again tonight keeping an eye out for what he said and he has a point.

That being said, still picking Floyd 8-4.

Everything is relative. It doesn't matter who has the better defense over the course of their careers all that matters is who has the better defense on Saturday night.

Usain Bolt may be the fastest man on the planet but put him in a race against an average professional baseball player running from 1st to 2nd on contact and the baseball player will win every time.

How does this apply to Manny's defense being better than Floyd's? Well we have heard it over and over again.

Okay but that begs the question is Floyds high guard even close to as good as his shoulder roll. Is it even as good as Mannys high guard? If both fighters will be using the high guard then the question of who has the better defense on fight night comes down to who has the better high guard, not who is historically the better defensive fighter.

Just as a sprinter is not as fast as a baseball player going from 1st to 2nd Floyd isnt the best defensive fighter evah when he isnt using his primary defense. He certainly doesnt have the best high guard. He doesnt have a great high guard. I would argue that it isn't even good.

Watching this video from badlefthook made this difference really clear to me.

Notice the depth of Mannys high guard defense, the body movement, the tightness, the arm movement, the trip hammer counters. Manny truly is a master of the high guard defense. Best eveh??? No, but amongst the elite.

Now compare that to the fights that Floyd really used his high guard.

His high guard is very very basic. It more like the high guard you will see from an kid first learning the defense. It doesnt go far beyond the basic guard position. His guard tends to be wide because he doesnt have the instincts and practice to see through the guard. The body movement isnt there. The arm movement isnt there.

All the little things that great high guard fighters do that sets them apart Floyd doesnt do. His high guard is the epitome of basic. Mannys high guard is better than Floyds.

So

There is nothing in the tape that says Floyd's high guard is very good. In ten pages no Floyd**** has actually been able to point out how Floyd's high guard is any good.

Film don't lie. Floyd's high guard is very very basic. Yes he can put the earmuffs up but that is about it. The body movement, the arm movement, the tightness, the trip counters arw not there. There is nothing to his high guard beyond just the stance. It's amature at best.
