Manny has an excellent chin. He uses offense as his defense, so in turn gets hit with a fair amount of shots that a lot of elite level boxers don't get hit with. His chin is good enough that he obviously uses it to his advantage to keep coming forward and not worry about getting hit with the occasional big shot. I think in this fight though, we will see a completely different game plan from Manny and Roach. Pac will try to move in and out without getting hit with any big shots. I think they both would admit that Oscar could easily KO Pac if they get into any extended firefights like Pac has done in the past with the likes of Morales, Barrera and JMM. The key will be if Pac can keep himself under control when he does get hit with something good by DLH. If he lets his natural instincts take over and try to fire back with a 5 punch combination like he normally does when he gets tagged, then it will be a quick night for Manny. There is just no way a man of his size will be able to take a big left hook right on the button from DLH, followed up by a couple of more big shots. I do think that Pac has the natural ability to disengage from a firefight when hurt, as we have seen him do against both JMM and Morales and go into survival mode. In the end though, I don't think Pac will be able to go the full twelve rounds with DLH and avoid the firefights that come natural to him and sometime in the second half of the fight and combination of fatigue and big shots from DLH will be his undoing.
He got hit a decent amount by Morales and JMM and did fine. His KO losses were from a long ass time ago and I wouldnt factor them into rating his chin today. Morales lost quite a bit of power at 130 and 135 compared to back at 122. JMM isnt really a big hitter either but he is accurate. He took the shots from those two well but those are about the only ones who landed well on him recently and we havent seen him against someone with huge power. DLH at 147 obviously hits with far far more power than anyone pac has faced, by a long shot.
Yeah they almost have to try to rely on Pac's speed and movement for him to win against DLH, he cant be trading shots like he had a tendency to do back at 130. But even with all the movement and speed in the world, Pac still has that reach and height disadvantage, so he will have to jump into range and try to jump out, I just dont see that working. He also wont be able to KO DLH, no way.
