Mannys name belongs up there with Armstrong and the rest

Pac could move up to heavyweight tomorrow and challenge Wlad, and I would still be hesitant to bet against him.

His ability to just defy all sense of reason and logic is up there with Ali and Leonards.

 

I am very happy that I got to be around for Manny's carrer one of the best of all time in action. I cannot see how anyone would not be a fan of Pac's if they are a fan of boxing.

 

I knew there was something special about him the moment of that first round against JMM. He just wasn't polished at the time but after the Morales wins I knew this guy was legend.

This is folks, a legend in our time. Somebody who is on the verge of claiming
his role as the modern Armstrong. I made a thread about Manny being the new Henry Armstrong a while back and the more and more I see it, I think when all is said and done he will have that recognition.

Personally, I think Floyd Mayweather should push for this fight at this point.

A win for Floyd over Manny would easily be his best scalp. And vice versa

A win for Manny over Floyd eliminates any and all doubts as to who the best of the generation.

pac is certainly a great fighter, but it is hard to say where you rank a fighter who's career is still ongoing though probably not much longer.

 

I agree completely. At this point, any objective observer would say Manny doesn't need Floyd; Floyd needs Manny as far as legendary status is concerned. Manny has officially passed Floyd in interest generated and willingness to fight the best (or at all). Manny has many options he could pursue; Floyd only has one.

We are witnessing history and someone who will be in all the collector's editions of The Ring when top 100 fighters, top punchers, fantasy matchups, etc. are concerned...

Appreciation for his subtle skills and abilities will grow as time goes on. There are many parallels to Duran you could draw, not on style necessarily, but on the fact that he's doing things in there that, on the surface, may look raw or like energetic aggression, but when analyzed, show much more going on than meets first glance.

I have a feeling in ten years or so he'll be closer to top 10 on many lists of pound for pound, not the cautious "maybe top 20 or 15" that we're seeing now... And I agree, it's too early to make those distinctions.

 

As a side note, I think we have less of a chance of seeing the superfight with Mayweather at this point than if Manny had lost-

Not saying it won't happen and not saying that this last fight had any bearing on the potential outcome of the fight if it does happen, because I might still pick Floyd to win at this point.

 

I think that a lot of fans though he was not as good as people were claiming and that he would get betten by Hatton, Cotto etc... becuase he is not a good boxer , just fast etc...they can't face that fact they they were wrong so instead of thinking that maybe their boxing minds are not as good as they thought 'cause they were wrong, they say that his comp' must of been **** and the next guy (Floyd) will show him up and expose him and their first thought that he was not that good will be vailated.

Either that or they are Yanks & Afro' American.

I must admit that it is hard to have Pac at the top of one division because he has jumped so many weights and I cannot see him beating the great WW, but to say they Sweet Pea , JCC etc.... would school him is silly, because one ATG scholling another ATG does not happen that much. Either way when two ATG get in the ring 90% of the time it will be close.

 

No Roy Jones is one of a kind watching him was mesmerizing. But i do rate Manny over Jones.

 

mesmerizing yes but against overmatched opposition. now to be fair, everyone was overmatched against someone as brilliant as jones but if he looked that good against benn, eubank, calzaghe, lennox lewis, and DM than THAT would have been amazing

 

Pacquiao would **** in Williams' dinner. That guy is a dumb punching rock with nothing but size and stamina.

Martinez would be something different.

Besides, that statement is largely inaccurate. And you don't have the statistics to prove it otherwise.


Otherwise I do agree with what you said regarding people trying to undermine a fighter after Manny beats 'em but to be fair they do that to alot of fighters. Pacquiao is no exception.

 

yup, williams may look like **** but he's got a good resume and he dominates pretty decent opposition (old winky, old phillips, etc.). his nothing more than physical talent but the same can be said about a lot of fighters

 

well he did look that great against James Toney :thumbsup who is better than all fighters you mentioned besides Lewis. Lewis would most likely have knocked Jones out tho.

 

yup, toney is one of the crown jewels in his resume and though lewis would likely have destroyed him i REALLY wanted that one to happen
