How is it that Floyd got heavy criticism about struggling with southpaw fighters when he has fought far more of them and more of them recently than Manny has. After De La Hoya and he got superstar status Manny never fought a southpaw again and nobody said a word. Also if he "IS" a southpaw fighter then what happen to that left hand that he battered everybody with. What about that KO left that was wrecking the welter division and blinded Margarito. He isn't a orthodox fighter so whats up, any explanation?:huh
Mayweather never really got heavy criticism for struggling against Southpaws. It was really just a bogus criticism that Arum came up with as a way to argue that Mayweather was afraid of Pacquiao and some people ran with it. Pacquiao hasn't fought any Southpaws, because there haven't been any for him to fight. As far as why he isn't knocking people out anymore, there's a variety of different explanations you can go with.
Let's take a look: Casamayor Gamboa Judah (and everybody has fought him) Ortiz( if Bob and Oscar were so buddy -buddy the belt was there for the taking)
Gamboa and Judah were never in a position to fight Pacquiao. Ortiz actually lost his belt in his first defense against Mayweather. Oscar and Bob were not on good terms at that time.
People have to make up potential flaws with FLoyd in order to sell his fights. If you fought around 10 southpaw fighters and beat them all, I don't see how you can be perceived as someone who has trouble with them. Anyway, he took on arguably one of the 5 greatest southpaw fighters in the history of the sport and had no problem beating him. So that should help debunk this myth that FLoyd has problems with guys that fight out of a southpaw stance.
