At first glance, Whitaker W 15 Duran. Then, thinking about it, did Whitaker actually ever fight 15 rounds. No. But, I could easily envision him doing so. He didn't seem to gas in his several 12 round fights at lightweight. More troublesome, is the tremendous fire, stamina, and strength Duran posessed at 135. Could Whitaker hold Duran off. I think he could, but Duran would land to the body even if he would find it difficult to reach Whitaker's elusive head. Whitaker would build an early lead, Duran would put in the work to the body and gradually slow Whitaker down. I think Duran makes it close, but isn't going to land consistently enough to stop Whitaker. Whitaker by 9-6 in rounds.

Pea has'nt the offence or power to keep Duran off of his chest & juxtapose that with Duran's slick defensive savvy & psychotic aggression & it all heads to a late rounds slow but sure beatdown. You can't beat Duran by running & sweetpea gets savaged from the 10th onwards as he's slowed down by Durans murderous body attacks. Pea is without doubt one of the greatest boxers i've ever seen but he's just in with someone who's just that little bit greater.

Against Duran at 135 you have to run for your life just to survive:deal

I think Duran would win a decision and especially in a 15 rounder. Duran was just a beast with underrated defense, he mixed offense and defense so well. I don't think Pernell could frustrate Duran enough or keep him honest. Watch the Azumah Nelson fight and even though Pea put on a clinic Azumah was coming on late like a frieght train. This is the ultimate fantasy match-up at lightweight IMO. Two of my favourites. I think Duran's intensity while at the same time being relaxed would make the difference.

Duran over 15,definitely. Whitaker would have plenty of moments, but would n't be able to stave Roberto off for a sufficiently long period.

I'd pick Pea to win a close but clear decision over Duran, he's probably the only fighter at the weight I'd pick to beat him. I think Pernell would just frustrate the **** out of Roberto with his lateral movement and amazing jab.

Interesting one actually. Surprised no-one's bothered starting a thread about this before.

H2H, i rate them as the two best at the weight, and I've usually backed Duran to eek out a close decision over 15 at his best in a great fight.

Duran has a tummy ache and quits halfway through the fight, behind on points.

Duran pressures him, cuts the ring off, lands some bombs, and beats him by decision

I'd lean towards Duran. Their defenses cancel each other out, whereas Duran would be on the offensive more. Whitaker survives...but comes up short on points.

In a series of 10 fights, Whitaker might take 2-3. His lack of an offensive arsenal would be a problem, he would be slippery but still couldn't keep Duran off.
