Is this at Welter? That was neither man’s best weight, but they both did a lot of work there, De La Hoya especially. It is hard to see any outcome but a Durán victory, over-rated though I think he is.
Duràn had the ability to grind down Oscar if he appears like how he was in Montreal and vs Palomino, considering Oscar had been confused by aggressive fighters(Trinidad) and was confused by big jabbers(Ike Quartey), Duràn had a chance.
It’s a different kind of over-rated. Holmes’ case is that people over-estimate him as a fighter. Durán is as great as they say, but when LW history is that stacked & people talk ten times more about Durán than they do fighters as good as he was, he becomes over-rated in that sense.
P4P wise, Duràn's place was acceptable with how he went big competitive with a dangerous, prime, skilled and fresh Marvin Hagler, but his lightweight resume is definitely a bit thin,I'd say tho he sits around the top 3 or such, the least he could get could've been top 5.
I have no issue with that. My complaint about Durán is that he dominates LW discussions over men as good as him who don’t receive a tenth of the attention he does.
Well,o mean he had the most footage and the clearer footage out of the rest, same goes to Marvin Hagler that's lauded as the MW goat when there's Greb, Monzon and SRR,you have a good point though.
