    Round 1 Coe 10-9

Coe landed some head snapping rights, and busted his nose with a heavy jab late. Gallegos had some success early.

Coe looks determined, I thought it was going to be easier than the first one for Gallegos

Coe really made a lot of improvement from their last fight. Well done to him for completely turning it around.

Clearly the illness held him back in the first fight, but clearly the smashed nose helped him this time around.

Was fairly impressed by Khalil Coe. That piston jab had so much spite and venom on it, he was very sharp and disciplined behind the jab last night. I do wonder if Gallegos went into the fight with scar tissue around the nose, though. It's pretty uncommon to see someone get busted up that much that quickly. But Coe has heavy hands, a well-polished jab, and is defensively responsible. Those qualities can get you very far in pro boxing. Maybe not world championship level, and I don't think Coe beats Buatsi right now since that fight's been discussed, but he could definitely work his way into the top 5 of an ageing LHW division and might be able to pick up a vacant belt when Bivol retires in a couple years' time if he's managed well.

Akhmadaliev looked pretty pedestrian I thought though. No real urgency to his work, wasn't capitalising on his offensive angles and smaller defensive movements, and struggled to cut off Castillo's escape routes. He didn't let his hands go as much as he could have and he seemed a bit too cautious and patient when he could have pretty easily gotten Castillo out of there early. I still think Inoue beats up Akhmadaliev and has an awful style for him and MJ's performance last night did very little to dissuade me of that notion.

The Castillo fight was just a stay busy fight, so I guess Akhmadaliev didn't want to take any risks. Besides, not sure if you guys are aware, but Castillo is deaf. Perhaps on a subconscious MJ didn't want to hurt him all that much.

Coe’s jab was like a piston. What a jabbing performance that was. That’s how you avenge a loss in style.
