This is actually a thread/posting from a writer on a "reputable" boxing site? without a hint of irony. Can nothing be done about this continuing nonsense of regular, interim or whatever inventive title the money men come up with. A long list of boxers are regularly spoken of on Box Nation and Sky as world champions, having held or holding one of these bogus titles i.e Quigg, McDonnell, Braemer, Cleverly, Browne, Chagaev, Jacobs and so on. It just makes a mockery of the sport and must baffle anyone coming new to boxing.

Yeah, it's hideous, but what can be done?

Sometimes I imagine how great this sport could be without all these organisations and it really makes me sad

Didn't Axel Schulz get a bauble?

Edit. Nope. That was a NC against Botha. Who wouldn't remember that tilt.

Thing is, it's not Charr's fault, and I'm glad for him, he's had it hard lately, so good luck to him as it's a hard way to make a living, given his limitations.
Trouble is, dressing it up as something it is not. The audience appeared to totally buy into it. There seemed almost as much ticker tape falling, as fell on Lindbergh after flying solo over the Atlantic.

What a tough guy. He had 2 hip surgeries this year. And the guy was shot in the stomach a few years ago if memory serves. That was sometime after the Vitali fight. And didn't he get stabbed early in his life as well?

That's a lot of adversity to overcome and it was astonishing watching him circling in the ring with those hips. He definately had a terrific surgeon and he really did put the time in to recouperate like that. Both hips requiring surgery pretty much should have been a career killer.

Real nice win although lets not pretend that Ustinov is much. Come to think of it, here's another example of the guy with all the size advantages--plus an opponent coming off hip surgeries--does not win the fight. How many check marks on his side does Ustinov need on his side to get his hand raised anyway?

Yes, it was quite something. he was stabbed in the stomach in 2015. The double hip replacement was earlier this year! It was a rare condition called dysplasia, giving mobility of the joints of an 80 year old in poor condition.
I'm sure we can think of many heavies with that kind of movement!
Well done Manuel, but don't get carried away, literally. Stick to tigers like Oquendo, Molina and Wilder's back catalogue.

Jesus H. Christ! Just when I thought the Heavyweight title couldn't sink any lower. The WBA is beyond farcical. This is total dog****.

I agree completely and as a purist am a fan of traditional one champion divisions.

However this is business first and sports and entertainment at the same time the modern gladiators so to speak. I wish boxing would self correct without being forced.....but much like MMA no one really cares they want good fights...promoters are a dime s dozen but they offer marginally talented fighters a chance at a belt which will always draw some talent and will dilute the fight picture....unless an international commission with every countries backing creates a universal law......we will have to tolerate it...lineal has lost it's meaning to some degree but we the fans know who the top dogs are and I'm afraid that is where we are at and will always be.....I am sure it will get worse
