I don't think Charr looked bad. It looked like sparring for him. He did whatever he wanted and was in complete control the entire fight.
Looked to me like Charr wasn't really trying.. showed up to get some rounds under his belt and thats it. He was doing a lot of showboating, and cruising in a lot of the rounds. more of a sparring session than an actual fight.
That's exactly what Charr vs. Saglam felt like, except it was sparring that Saglam was getting by far the better of.
He brings a lot of the same quantities as Chisora, IMO - just in lesser, diluted form. They're both stocky, fairly heavy-handed guys with fairly solid chins who aren't KO artists but like to come forward and mix it up; both are colorful personalities harboring world-beater ambitions, oozing confidence far beyond their skill level... I've actually long wanted to see that match-up, perhaps more than any other involving either of them.
Vitali easily beat Charr. Wilder will not come near Charr, afterall he doesn't have to. Wilder got ranked #3 WBC, #6 WBA and #12 IBF by fighting winos from the alley. Wilder plans to wait until Vitali retires, then the WBC will simply give him their title without his having to fight anyone, perhaps Butterbean?
He's not atrocious. He's just unexceptional and lazy. Not exactly a winning combination. DiamondBoyMania (as IB aptly put it) probably started off as a joke. Good one though. Charr v Chisora: Someone's getting grilled :happy
An article I wrote on Charr back in Feb... http://murmuringsofaboxingmad-man.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/manuel-charr-could-he-be-real-deal.html
Ya I think that's a good comparison IB. Though the emphases on the lesser, diluted form being a must. (imo) Chisora vs Charr Good fight.
