Just when you think they couldn’t sink any lower(lower than Lovejoy that is), WBA finds a way to surprise you.

    Off the charts.

Instead of making funny faces and posting his dance moves ... maybe the WBA Heavyweight Champion Usyk should issue a statement regarding the organization he represents and whether he still wants to be a part of this mess.

Since Bryan-Guidry represents his next mandatory (if he wins the Joshua rematch).

Same with Joshua. He never made a peep the whole time he held the WBA belt and all this nonsense with Charr and Bryan was going on.

Does Joshua want to win the WBA belt again?

I think the sport would be fine if the WBA ceased to exist.

Who was the rep that made that statement? I doubt he is aware of this. Can we email or send him messages via twitter?

The biggest mistake Riddick Bowe made wasn't that he tossed his WBC belt into the trashcan, its that he didn't toss the rest of them in there as well

The Association of Boxing Commissioners president is Mike Mazzulli. I don't know if he's on Twitter.

Charr should have stopped ducking Oquendo. That was the fight the fans wanted all along. Shame on him.

Wait, you guys have never heard of the Jonathan Paul "King of the Bayou" Guidry???! Wtf is the matter with you casuals? :shakehead:

The real shame here is that Guidry was set for an epic showdown with early aughts contender Alonzo Butler on January 29th and we're now being deprived of that joy. :ohno I wonder if they've offered Big Zo a fair chunk of step-aside?

I can see WBA ordering Bryan vs Dubois for a some kind of eliminator/mandatory position after this shitshow. Neither of them deserves a shot at a world title and hopefully won't get it this easily. Hoping that Charr sues WBA for this and Bryan's fake belt will be stuck in the court room for years to come.

Huh, Fres Oquendo even 3 months shy of his 49th birthday would likely batter Guidry easily - that's how bad this new WBA challenger is

The WBA mandatory IS next for the Usyk-Joshua II winner.

Trevor Bryan is the WBA "Regular" Champ. He is the mandatory. But he has to defend once a year to keep it.

Here's the "old school corruption" going on from the guy who wrote the book - Don King.

Charr was the WBA "Regular" Champ a year ago. Bryan was the WBA "Interim" Champ.

King won the purse bid to match those two. Bryan is signed with King.

So King (purposely) didn't provide Charr with a contract in time so he could get a VISA and fight in the US. Stiverne (also promoted by King) was conveniently already training for a fight on the card. Since Charr couldn't get into the country, King "asked" the WBA to sanction the Bryan-Stiverne fight as a WBA "Regular" title fight. The WBA did, and made Charr a "Champion in Recess."

Charr went ballistic, because he'd been waiting around for years to get the lottery ticket money fight with Joshua. Charr threatened everyone. The Association of Boxing Commissioners threatened the WBA. The WBA said "Okay, okay. We'll do better."

Then the WBA held another purse bid for Bryan-Charr. King won again.

King has again failed to send the contract to Charr. King has also somehow gotten Guidry rated in the WBA top 15. And now, since Charr can't get a VISA, King intends to host Bryan-Guidry to fulfill Bryan's obligation to defend once a year.

Bryan has to make a defense once a year so he can remain the mandatory for Joshua-Usyk. Bryan's last fight was January 29, 2021. So Bryan is fighting Guidry on January 29, 2022.

King's plan is for Bryan to be standing there with the WBA "Regular" belt when the WBA mandatory is announced in the days after Joshua-Usyk II.

The last few years for King have all been about getting Bryan a mandatory shot at Joshua so Bryan can get several million in purse money and King can get his hands on it.

The "LONG CON" if you will.

And the WBA won't be announcing any more eliminators because the WBA appears to be going along for the ride, with their ranking of Guidry.

Way back when putting Audley at #14 when releasing inbetween rankings, removing a fighter that actually boxed and won, I thought they couldn't sink much deeper. But since then the WBA has become worse and worse, with the WBC in a contest who could pull the most bull.
Seems like WBA is on the winning hand again after this gem. It's for a minor title, but still...
