A number of Cruisers are closer to boiled down heavies frame-wise and would carry 210- 215 comfortably, which is plenty large enough to compete and nab at least contender level paydays in the more prestigious class.

We may start to see this trend grow...

    Catch-22.

If someone DID bother, and became a star, and picked up where Holyfield left off, they could legitimize the division and make it one that casual fans did continue to follow even after they were gone.

I've seen him that slow just once, against Yakup Saglam.

Maybe you're right, I've only seen Briedis just this once against the sperm whale so I can't really say anything as my perspective is a bit biased now.

I just reviewed the Briedis vs. Charr kayo several times.

Amazing 1) how amateurishly telegraphed Charr's own uppercuts were churning his way in recklessly on Briedis and 2) how subtly Briedis set it all up, feathering with the jab as he fled to lull Charr in and then BAM!

And I love the disrespectful little slap-on-the-face left hook Briedis managed to sneak in once it was clear the uppercut had already put Charr's lights out, taking advantage of that momentary sway before gravity took over.

For a nice guy Briedis has a bit of competitive viciousness in him. Not bad to have in this game. :bbb

    He looked B-grade at cruiser.

This was his most impressive showing to date by far, IMO - which is a mixed bag as Charr is by far his biggest & best opponent, yet is a fat lazy slob who literally stumbled onto everything Briedis threw at him, blocking with his face and looking for one big punch that his blubbery hot mess of a self was never going to land on someone that quick.

Mr. Pain walking out to some crazy drum-and-pipes music with a repetitious howling wolf sample, and swaddled in the flag of his native Suriname (colony of the Netherlands), wearing it like a toga.
