Not a chance Doug Fisher said that!! I read his colunms and he does not rate mayweather that high

 

I don't get what your confused about, I'd have to think for a little while but there are 20-35 depending on personal opinion above Mayweather in the ATG list, don't get me wrong I am a huge fan I just think he hasn't got the chance to prove himself as much higher than 15-20 because the era we are in is not filled with boxers with brilliant reputations, the only way he can get much higher is by going up more weight classes than someone with his build can handle.

With respect to those three guys, they are hardly what you'd call historians. I think it's very premature to rank him that high, but then again I'm not really a fan of these silly lists.

 

I'm sure that there are NO "experts", that place Mayweather at top 20 atg, let alone top 10. For mayweather to crack the top 10, he would have to do something great. You know, become a hero, defeat the odds. He would have to have a string of KO wins, go up to middle weight, super middle weight, and light heavy.

I am not saying these things as a hater, but rather as having respect for the atg's throughout history. At this stage Mayweather has not had that great moment to secure his legacy as an ATG. Mayweather is a smart business man, careful match maker, and a very entertaining character. By choosing this path, however, his aversion to risk is why his name will always be connected to what he has not done.

 

The longer he leaves it, the less it matters... he`s had plenty of chances but he ****ed up.... badly.

I think it's a pretty fair list depending on what time you started watching boxing, relating to this question I have Mayweather a bit higher but that is because at 130 he was amazing and I feel although his accomplishments there are a tad underrated in regards to history, also has anyone ever made a list which didn't include heavyweights? because of the publicity this division got in the past I feel that it would be more interesting, don't get me wrong they deserve recognition but if they were fighting at cruiserweight with the same level of talent would people care as much?

 

And Gabe Montoya is making Floyd the honorary guest at his next fundraiser "Battered Men and Women" gala!

While I respect your opinion, I disagree:

He started at 126 and won titles all the way up to 154, with no losses.

Won his first title in less than 2 years of his debut

Quite possibly is the best lightweight in the history of the sport

As I stated on a previous thread, his compubox stats rank the highest ever (I know that compubox wasn't established eary on)

One of a few fighters (W. Pep, RJJ & maybe another) who went a round without getting hit (vs. Mosley)

Possibly along with Hopkins and Sweet Pea, the best midfight adjuster
(with JMM and Ward not too far behind though)

Holds 3 records in the top 10 PPV matches

And the list goes on and on ...

 

Let me just fix that small blimp, Floyd never fought at 126.

 

Numbers wise Floyd will be the top dog in various statistics, but the fact is that boxing's current talent pool is not deep or good enough throughout to make Floyd climb that high the ATG, IMO. Now if we were talking lb for lb then I would have him up there as even the great SRR, who was 5 10+ only fought an opponent 16.5 lbs bigger than him. For Floyd to even go to MW would likely easily beat that spread and something he's already likely come near with ODH.
