The WBA and the WBC are ruining it with their belt craze.

    The WBO is irrelevant.

The IBF is doing it right. 1 World Champ, 1 Intercon champ, 1 National champ.

i wouldnt be so mad about 4 belt orgs if they were like the IBF and only had 1 guy as a holder per weight

you can have 3 maybe 4 guys walking around calling themselves champions

The record books will be a little hazy in a few years when sorting this out

like if a guy wins a regular title at 3 weights and each one has a super champ is he really a 3 weight class champ?

The ABCs suck, we all know this. The IBF has the best way of doing it IMO though.

Some problems and questions I don't have answered yet.

    Problems.

    1. Number of fights in 1 yr for potential new champ.
    - Jimmy Pug enters the US Northeast National tourney. Depending on number of entrants, he might have 6 fights inside six months. That summer he fights the other National Division Champs for the US Championship. From there he fights twice in a tourney with the Canadian, Mexican, PR/Cuban/Jamaican champions to become the North America Champion in the Fall. From there he has to fight twice in the South American, European, Asian, African, Pacific Champs to win the Intercontinental Championship. Then, finally, after what might be 10 fights in a year, he faces the World Champion in January of the following year.

Chances for injury are high. Not many would be able to stay injury free and be that committed to training and fighting all year.

    2. Intercontinental Champion: It takes a lot of work to get to that level in this scenario. It would be a ***** to have to start back at the bottom the following year and work your way back up. Seems more fair that a provision be in place for the Intercon Champ, if he loses to the World Champ, has the option to defend his Intercon title the following year and if he wins then face the World Champ again.

I dunno. Maybe not...I'd have to think about it.

    Questions:

    1. What does the World Champ do all year while everyone else is working their way up the ladder? Since he can't have any title fights beyond the annual World Championship fight with the Intercon Champ in January, how does he stay busy?

I think he would spend a lot of the year making appearances. He would be a huge celebrity considering the World Title Fights would be similar to the Super Bowl, only happening once a year. Also, he could fight exhibition matches through the beginining of the year, but would have to stop by summer to avoid potential injuries that might keep the World Title fights from happening.

    2. If the World Champion Loses, does he have to start over at the bottom?

Good question. I'd guess that since we talked about a provision for the Intercon champ to defend, there should be something for the World Champ to do the same?

Perhaps a dethroned World Champ becomes Intercon Champ and has the option to fight the next Intercon Tourney winner for a title shot?

I'm sure there are more good points to make... Can you think of any?

Fighters should just refuse to fight for the ABC titles and sanctioning fees. Go for the Ring belt.
