I know in Klitschko magical land , Toney gets knocked out. But in this world Vitali looks like this after failing to impress against a very weak mans HW Toney.

Toney would draw out misses from Vitali and counter him his ease.

Wlad offered Toney 900 large , pricing himself out. Toney had got 2 m for his title fight against Rahman.

Wlad ducked Toney. Everybody remembers that.

 

STOP! Toney took less money and a non-title fight. Wlad offered more money ( 1.5 Million ) and a belt. What does that tell you?!

Toney beat an old Holyfield. So what. He would be a punching bag at the hands of Klitschko. At least a 8-1 underdog. You myopic view and hatred for the Klitschko trumps what little objective reasoning you have.

He passed up a whole lot of good fighters, especially before his fight with Lewis. Went for the small but competent Byrd and quit. Never bothered to rematch that either. And as a champion he could have bothered with the likes of Chagaev and Povetkin, instead of a shot Briggs and Charr.

He simply felt content with cleaning up the mediocrities put in front of him and letting Wlad do most of the actual work. He never ducked and did what was required of him to do but there's more to an ATG champion than that.

 

Hide is/was garbage. I never said 98, i said 98-99, so thats between 2-3 years after turning pro. Im certain there were higher profile names available around that period that Vitali could have stepped up. Maybe not the top guys but there was plenty of second tier guys to choose from. Certainly better fighters than Hide.

A fighter does have a certain amount of leverage in who he wants to fight, so you cant just blame it on the promoter.

Of course thats true, however Vitalis resume is awful regardless of which way someone spins it. With other fighters, most of the time you can provide a positive spin on their opposition. You simply cannot do that for Vitali.

Vitali fought Lewis after 7 years as a pro. His best wins in 33 fights up until that point was Larry Donald, Ross Purrity, Orlin Norris and Vaughan Bean, thats hardly the stuff of legends. I find it difficult to see why Vitali couldnt/didnt face anyone of a higher caliber in 7 years as a pro? There were a ton of names to choose one. The thought of fighting one of the better heavyweights out there didnt enter Vitali or his promoters head?

From 99-02 there was an amazing array of fighters available for Vitali to build his name on, yet he fought none.

After Lewis he fought Kirk Johnson who was nothing special and then he beat Sanders. He deserve credit for beating Sanders and its probably one of his best wins. He fought Williams whod just beat Tyson. Then he retired.

His comeback opposition was much better, but it was still overshadowed by his brother.

I never said the resumes are similar, i merely stated that Wilder also has a padded record 33 fights and pro for 6 years and not fought anyone decent. Vitalis resume is better than Wilders.

 

The general pattern seems to be, that Wlad fought the guys ranked in the top five and outside it, while Vitally fought guys ranked in the lower half of the top ten and outside it.

There is no question which brother was greater.

 

In the 7 years as a pro, prior to facing Lewis, in 33 fights, Vitalis best wins were Donald, Norris, Bean and Hide.

I find it strange that he was unable to get a fight with some of the higher up fighters, maybe not Tyson/Holyfield etc, but the Mcalls, Mercers, Tuas, Rahmans of the world.

Not only was Lewis more dominant against far better competition, but he legitimately beat Vitali.
