After last week's Mexican tour where Maravilla received the WBC belt, visited a local hospital and church, Martinez went to Puerto Rico to get the WBO crown as well. On the following picture you see WBO president Paco Valcarcel, champions Ivan Calderon, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., Juan Manuel Lopez and Roman Martinez, with the tall guy most certainly being Carlos Negron.

In other news, as Kelly Pavlik decided to decline a rematch with Martinez, Maravilla is now looking for all fights available at 154 and 160, including one vs Floyd Mayweather, Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams. Of course Martinez holds this WBO belt at 160lbs where he's recognized as the Undisputed World Champion, so he might keep the more valuable title and vacate the ABC belt at 154.

Sergio Maravilla Martinez once again showed why he is a tremendous human being first, and simply one of the best fighters on the planet after that. The LMW and Undisputed MW champion raised a fund for Vernon Forrest after his tragic death (HBO metioned it I think), recently used his voice as the MW World Champion to call for a boxing initiative against domestic violence after Valero took his wife's life then his own, and now Sergio supports the WBC ban for Arizona for it's outrageous immigration law.

Maravilla gave his support on Tuesay in Mexico City as he was presented his own green belt for his stellar victory over Kelly Pavlik a few weeks ago. Martinez dominated 2/3rds of the fight but had to work his way back from the canvas in the middle rounds to turn Pavlik's head into a bloody mess, and finish like the true champion he is. There's not yet any input which version of the WBC belt he'll keep, but there are plenty of options out there either way, inlc. the Pavlik, Williams, Cintron and Margarito rematches, other champions and maybe even Floyd Mayweather Jr, who did not rule out Maravilla as a future opponent when asked.

Personally I'd consider that fight the VERY BEST MATCHUP IN BOXING TODAY, a lot more competitive than Floyd vs. Pac or even Williams, Berto, Bradley etc. would be. Pac and Bradley are great fighters but too small and Williams and Berto have too many holes in their game, but Maravilla's outstanding speed, athleticism, reflexes, skills, long reach, quick jab and most importantly, adaptability, would make a superb A+ level boxing match.

Whoever Maravilla's opponent will be, Martinez got my lifetime support.

Famous latinos across tha board are coming out against the law. Hopefully all the outcry will do something because I happen to be a Mexican-American living in Arizona. I get pulled over enough as it is and now that they're giving the police the right to be racist I'm ****ed! :patsch:-(

Today in the morning, two-time world champion, WBC Superwelter and Middleweight, Sergio “Marvel” Martinez visited the Basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe in order to thank the Virgin for his successful career that has led him to have his current position.

And then he went together with our President, Jose Sulaiman and some members of the WBC, Martinez visited “20 DE NOVIEMBRE” ISSSTE Hospital, where they were welcomed by its General Director, Dr. Rafael Navarro Meneses and Carlos Padilla Becerra. Joined by his representative, Sampson Lewcowicz, the WBC champion visited the block of children who suffer from cancer, and delivered toys to them as well as spiritual motivation that will cheer them up so that they keep struggling to get their recovery. Most of the kids, who showed their being enthusiastic and smiling, tried to touch the championship belt of “Marvel”, however, a seven-year old girl, when being asked by the champion if she wanted the belt or a doll, raised her arms and selected the doll….. Martinez put it in the arms of the little girl. The WBC champ stated that never in his life had he had such a deep feeling like the one of having being close to these children who are in serious health conditions, to later on have seen their smiles, so full of faith and joy.

Well **** MArtinez then, he just lost a supporter. I don't give a damn what his ****ed up country in ARgentina does, so why does he feel the need to open his ignorant mouth and talk about the situation going on in the US that AZ has found a remedy for.

Well, for one he lives in the US...

For two, if you think something is wrong it's better to speak out against it than to sit back and not do anything.
