Maravilla Martinez will make Pavlik look FOOLISH

Martinez did sort of toil in obscurity and now he's God's gift to boxing. Underrated then overrated. Similar to Pavlik except the other way around. Both these guys are something. This is going to be a good fight, I think. I favor Pavlik but I don't think Martinez getting a decision is out of the question. May the best man win. I'm looking forward to it.

 

he did begin to wear down against williams, but its just the way he is. i think it has less to do with how old he is. consider this for a second...

if you watch the sergio's fights with margo and williams back to back you will see many of the same habits. you will see sergio circling around with his hands low, darting in with a lead left leaving his face exposed and throwing quick combos before trying to bounce out. he has fought the same way his whole career. only difference is now he is bigger and stronger.

in the margo fight, he was dropped (well, against the ropes but a kd nonetheless) in the first round and came back strong in the same round. he eventually wore down under the pressure of margo and wound up getting stopped.

in the williams fight, he was dropped (not hurt) in the first round and came back strong in that round. he eventually wore down under williams' pressure and volume, and lost. his ring habits, both good and bad are basically the same.

not a whole lot has changed in 10 years. he fights the way he fights.

he is going to hit kelly and hit kelly often. but he is going to get hit himself and get hit often. kelly will be applying pressure and throwing all night just like margo and williams did.

i am in no way suggesting that you think it will be easy for either guy b/c i know you don't think that but its really surprising how many people think this is going to be easy for sergio.
