Maravilla by UD, although he'd probably hve to get off the canvass once or twice. But who are we kidding, even if Sergio 12-0'd, he'd be lucky if he got a draw. I mean, he KO'd Cintron, and still got a draw.
I got Canelo by KO. Martinez is a good mover, but he's not a runner like Lara or as skilled as Floyd. I think Canelo eventually catches him with some good counters. I'm not confident in this pick though.
Hard to outbox Canelo and win a decison. Many of tried and only 2 (of 66) have ever done it, and both were elite boxers with weight advantages who won by the skin of their teeth. When you look at Martinez's run at MW, you really gotta ask yourself, could he have drew with and beaten GGG like Canelo did, or would he have been caught by GGG and beaten down? The heavy handed come forward approach from Canelo in GGG 2 would been a lot for Martinez to handle, but he wouldn't have been as easy to hit as GGG was. But if Martinez knew Canelo would fight him the way he fought GGG in the rematch, then in a way it makes it easier for him to prepare. If you know Canelo has committed to coming forward and loading up on bombs, perhaps Martinez could tailor a gameplan around that. Of course, if we're looking at Canelo from GGG 2, he really tailored that gameplan for GGG, thinking he needed to fight that way to satisfy the fans, thinking he was going into a toe to toe war, only for GGG to back off and fight off the backfoot. For Martinez I don't think Canelo would fight like that, he wouldn't have a reason to. I would expect a Canelo to fight Martinez more like how he fought GGG the first time or how he fought Jacobs, using more footwork, being more elusive himself. Then again maybe the best way to deal with Martinez is to just come right at him and try to wear him down.
I think Sergio wins but that wasn't even the best Sergio TBH, if you wanna see the best Sergio, watch his fight against Alex Bunema, that's the best version...........shortly behind that version him against Dzinzurik. That Sergio laps Canelo.
He might beat the Canelo who couldn't hurt Cotto. By the time of GGG II Canelo had 'grown in MW' and that was just after the PED suspension following the first fight with its 'needle marks' according to GGG. So by that time Canelo had become a dangerous puncher. And Martinez almost got KO'd by Chavez after one clean shot. So I think Canelo would TKO him at that stage of roid mutation. Give him the same roids as Canelo and he can win maybe.
Canelo beats him way better fighter and Martinez was good but could get caught by lesser fighters and against prime Canelo that's not gonna end well for him
