I agree with him! Sergio is the truth. Guy has moved up from from 154, where he is comfortable, to 160 and beat the best AVAILABLE. Chavez Jr. has been ducking him like no other for a little over a year now.

    Martinez UD 117-111

Who he thinks would win between the two, is not of any concern to me. It's his switching between ass-kissing and hating in the pursuit to get that payday, which kills his credibility. One moment he's saying, "He's too small to fight me, so I don't blame him. He's a great fighter", and the next it's, "He's a fraud. He's not a real pound-for-pound fighter". Makes anything else he says, worthless.

I'm a fan of Martinez, but I hate that he challenges these guys naturally smaller than him like May and Pac but refuse to move up 1 weight class whre it is plenty of action for him.

That's what happens when you talk out of your ass and don't act like yourself. It's hard to remain consistent. Like I said, what he says about Pac and May now, becomes worthless. His opinions/feelings will change depending on who's more likely to give him a shot. I was a big fan of him at one point, because not only is/was he a good fighter, but he was a classy guy, too. Now he's just become a sad, desperate loner that, more often than not, doesn't have anything meaningful to say. If Chavez Jr doesn't continue to duck him and beats him, I'd have mixed emotions, but, I'll kinda' be glad, too.

I don't think it's a completely hypocritical reaction given Pacquiao's recent opponent choices and the fact that both his promoter and trainer are frequently mouthing off about Martinez as well.
I think he's pretty consistently said that the Mayweather fight was more likely anyway just due to size.

I feel the same way, sergio kind of went down a bit in my regard but try to look trough it knowing he does it for a payday, beside that and his pac/floyd comments dude is a great champion, ambassador for boxing and an asset to the sport as a p4p good middleweight champ, I once said wish sergio was 27 rather than 37 then he would fight guys like pirog and golovkin eventually getting paid instead of desperately chasing it.

You cant expect manny to fight sergio, there is no point in a 150 fight and he cant weigh more than welter anyway, dude has gone trough enough divisions, he has earned the right to fight who he wants.
Same for floyd with the exceptions that if he looks strong and good at 154 vs miguel I want to see him stay there and fight sergio.

I'm not talking about hypocritical reactions. I'm talking about his inconsistencies. One moment he's all :good for Pac staying in his own weight division, and the next he's :| for him not coming up.

And can you blame Pac's trainer for mouthing off? Pac has hardly even uttered Martinez's name, never mind criticize him. Yet Martinez is the one who's started and maintained the bulk of the trash-talking with him.

As for the competition that Martinez is so offended about, it's not been that bad for him to react like that. The only **** opponent in recent times has been Mosley. His previous one was JMM - a man who's better than anyone Martinez has ever faced (never mind beaten) - and the other was Margarito - a man who kicked Martinez's ass once upon a time ago, and a man who Martinez himself has given lots of credit for Pac having a win over.

He is just plain desperate. No more to be said.

I like Martinez but he sounds ignorant here. Pacquiao is, by far, the greatest active fighter in the world today. Nobody even comes close to him. People like to talk about Hopkins' legacy but compared to Pacquiao, he is insignificant. The same goes for Mayweather and any other active fighter who is deemed to be great.

Pacquiao is a legitimate top 50 of all-time. No other active fighter is. To talk about him just being a product of marketing is hugely ignorant.

Yeah, he's a good guy. So he should continue staying that way. Trash-talking and chasing fighters two weight divisions smaller, doesn't suit him.

Which was why I brought up the Floyd video; that article was quite anomalous compared to everything he's said before or since.
Roach was the first one who said he thought the Martinez fight should be next (immediately after the Williams knockout) and has done just as much trash-talking about Martinez. I guess I can't really blame him though since he's on the Chavez gravy train.

Martinez gave credit for the manner that Pacquiao beat Margarito, not for the quality of opponent. When he was asked about rematching Margarito, he's said repeatedly he wouldn't want to because he'd seriously hurt him, which says a lot about how credible Martinez finds him today. And the JMM fight was not widely perceived as even at all when it was made given the age and weight factors.
