He has been marketed well, like every other great fighter. They're all a product of marketing to some extent. Considering Mayweather has a lesser resume and ranks nowhere near Pacquiao all-time, there's no doubt Mayweather is a bigger product of marketing.

 

definitely floyd is the bigger product of hype and marketing. even floyd needs to sell his fights overtime and relies on people who buys his fights to see him lose.

 

Yeah, I agree. Without things like Dancing With Stars and his WWE appearance, Mayweather wouldn't be as big as he is now. I'm not faulting him for that but it's quite obvious he's more reliant on marketing than Pacquiao is.

Pacquiao became a star by going through wars with guys like Morales and Barrera. He wasn't a manufactured star, he did it the hard way.

Indeed Pacquiao has a good promoting team (too greedy) on his side , thats why is a big cash cow. I don't say that isn't a good fighter , nor at all but he fought guys drained out ! Mayweather fight quality healthy opposition at a comfortable weight for them.

I think Chavez jr wants this fight to prove that he's a man but Arum wants to milk him as much as he can ! Same situation with Pacquiao ..
