Did Duran never stop an ATG? Or did he stop 3 ?

I’ve heard it said that Duran never ko’d an ATG fighter.
But did he ? He ko’d these three, are they greats ? Or are any of them greats?

 

I'd say he stopped 1, in Buchanan.
Marcel had ATG ability but I don't think he managed an ATG career.

Marcel had ATG ability along with Kenny, DeJesus had the potential to become one but unfortunately did not.

You are correct Buchanan was " stopped " only because Duran hit him with a low blow, that is not in dispute is it ? failing that Ken would have lasted the distance in my eyes, are you in agreement with either, just wondering.

In my mind they are all ATGs in terms of ability, but I can see an argument as well for none of them.

 

Well yeah, Marcel retired in his prime due to his promise to his mother.

 

I agree with this sentiment, yes. It was a low blow landed after the bell, Bad call by the referee. It's unlikely that Buchanan would've been able to take the fight back had it not been stopped, but with only two rounds left he likely would've survived the distance.

That he would retire early from the sport. She didnt want him to fight any longer. Gotta respect it.

 

Very endearing to see a son honoring his mother's wishes, especially in a dangerous sport like boxing. Mother knows best.

 

If only all fighters would listen to their mothers!
