Marcel Cerdan and His Historical Placement

Reading through some of the articles posted,

one fact which impressed me is that Cerdan was an 8-5 favorite against LaMotta.

Considering how few fights Cerdan had in America, he had obviously impressed those who saw him, regardless of spin put on it today.

It is also true that LaMotta as much as Cerdan might be a bit overrated today. A large number of his fights seem to have been against welterweights, and he was rather erratic. Looking through the weights of his fights it is interesting how often he had considerable weight pulls.
