https://spamboxing.com/jack-catterall-next-fight-date-confirmed/ Ben Shalom said Catterall will headline the card, with Okolie David Light being chief support (March 11 show not happening then). Natasha Jonas will also be on the card. Seems bizarre to headline with Catterall in Liverpool to be honest. This will clash with the BT Heaney Flately 2 / Cain Baluta card.
Interesting seeing Catterall headlining. Does Catterall have any fans? He has "fans" who don't like the outcome of Taylor fight, for sure, but what about those who would buy a ticket for his show?
Boxxer had had to move a fair few fighters around due to the Taylor injury to keep them active so in that sense i understand it
Didn't think he was much of a ticket seller! Funny to see the face of sky boxing being chief support though.
Catterall is hard to like, given the bitter aftermath of the Taylor fight. He lost, he was gifted a rematch he had no contractual right to, and frankly Jamie Moore went right down in my estimations for his rants about it too. Compare to the Fury family after the Wilder draw; Tyson maybe had to calm them down initially but they got on with it.
The two are not even remotely comparable. Firstly, Fury got a draw. Secondly, Fury had already made his fame and fortune (rightly so) whereas this was Catterall’s chance to change his life, which was robbed from him. Catterall had basically nothing to show for shocking the world and beating the undisputed champ. By all accounts his Mrs had to go into work the next day. I’m a big Fury fan but to compare the two is ridiculous. How could Moore, Travis et al see it happen without at the very least saying that what happened stunk?
if Catterall had a body of work with great fights and accomplishments behind him, instead of just sitting on his WBO mandatory position for years and years, i’d be a little more synmpathetic towards him
They both got robbed. One got on with it, the other spent months calling the boxing world bent. End of story.
In terms of the boxer's reaction and that of his entourage, yes. Clearly I'm not disputing Catterall's grievance but I hope he lets it go if it turns out he simply can't fight Taylor again for whatever reason. I suspect he won't - the result has given his career notoriety it didn't have beforehand.
Hopefully this means Taylor-Lopez. Couldn't care less about these Boxxer bumfests. Ben Shalom is being hailed by the Simon Jordans of this world for what? Trying to smush Eddie Hearn's crumbs into something? I've been shitting on Matchroom for years, and I've enjoyed every single second of it, but Matchroom is VASTLY better than Boxxer, even with the entire weight of Sky behind them
