Straight from the horse's mouth! I guess Marciano must beat Ali then, with no other considerations relevant...

I consistently say that the only reason i question myself on picking Marciano (if i have to pick any heavy in history) to beat Ali is because of the size factor. Nothing else.

I love watching great fighters showing raw respect for other great fighters. I've seen this before but it never gets old.

So people give Marciano a good shot at beating Ali but they expect Bruno and Ruddock to beat him?

I know style is important, but it is not the only thing that is important.

I think when calling Marciano a better version of razier is true in the sense of them being pressure fighters and thier power...but the thing is Frazier had speed to make his pressure effective and compliment these attributes, and speed(combined with that style) is the golden key against a young Ali

Whenever there is a big, somewhat powerful/skilled heavyweight, there will always be someone who says that person would beat Marciano.

I hear this. Bruno would want to be elsewhere whilst fighting Rocky Marciano.

The way I see it, Rocky would be able to take every shot Ali fired at him. I hate to say it, But Ali's power is not extraordinary for a heavyweight. Always seems like he knocks people out with a flurry of punches or something.
Ali would not knock Rocky out, and Rocky wouldn't knock Ali out. They are just way too tough. I think Rocky would be able to hurt Ali when he would be on the ropes, but Ali is not completely useless in the inside; There was a point where Ali grabbed Chuvalo and held him towards his body, so what did Chuvalo do? He banged his body. That's obvious. But Rocky hits much harder then Chuvalo, I might even say that Rocky would floor Ali at one point.
Ali would get back up. There is no doubt about their hearts either, Ali's performance in Manila speaks for his heart.
On paper, you gotta pick Ali because he just has too many advantages. He's bigger, taller, faster hands, better footwork, and much longer reach. But if you consider Rocky's will and determination, you just can't count him out. I'm gonna stay neutral on this one..

I am with you there to some extent.

When you compare footage of Frazier to other all time greats the first thing that hits you is how fast he is compared to them.

What Marciano had was a two fisted attack and the ability to hurt you hitting any part of your body. If your arm was in his way he just beat up your arm.

I think we are both stumping up the pay per view on this one.

    Blame George Foreman.

He created the Foreman Frazier theory, which dominates fantasy predictions a bit too much.

nice to see someone who is willing to change their view on a fighter when they're wrong about him. I think alot of people start off with a preconceived notion of a fighter for one reason or another and then will rationalize that opinion no matter what they see after.

    Yup..
I see that way too much nowadays; people assuming that any short swarmer would be killed by Foreman. normally, this is true, but if it's someone like Rocky then I don't know.. The real question would be, If Rocky could take Foreman's shots?! If Rocky made it past the first initial 6 rounds, then it's all rocky. Rocky stays strong the whole fight, Foreman is not the same when he uses all his stamina, which was never a big asset.
I would still bet my money on foreman if it was Foreman vs Marciano.
