Base on radio broadcast it went this way perhaps. 1 Charles 2 Charles 3 Charles 4 Charles 5 Marciano 6 Marciano 7 Marciano 8 Marciano 9 Marciano 10 Marciano 11 Marciano 12 Even 13 Marciano 14 Marciano 15 Marciano. Marciano seems to upper his punch out put as the rounds go by. Marciano had Charles stagger and daze many times though out the fight. Round 11 was pretty bad for Charles, as Marciano hurt Charles and all Charles did was hang on. Now this is score the fight just by listening to it lol.
I have a tape of this match from '54...... It was close, but Marciano was the hot ticket and money-man by 1954..... No way was Charles gonna get back the title in a close fight with Rocco Marciano......... The rematch told the true story....... Marciano was just about finished with a split nose, however, he sucked-it-up and lowered the boom on Charles......... No debate....... MR.BILL
I have the complete rematch, and felt Marciano won the fight pretty easy as score cards go. Yeah the cut was bad, but Marciano control the fight.
Th efight was close till round 10, then Marciano started dominating. Charles took a brutal beating. What surprised everyone was Charles reverting to his best form, which was slugging as well as boxing. After he killed Bourduni (sp?) in ring, he became a bit boring in ring most of time. In Marciano fight he let it all loose from start.
After rehearing it, I think I may give Charles round 8. perhaps. Charles control the first 4 rounds, tieing up, jabbing and outboxing Marciano. In round 4, Charles cut Rocky over the right eye. Than Marciano came back in rounds 5, 6 and 7. Round 6 was a pretty bad round for Charles, as he was wobbleing and hanging on. Charles I suppose took round 8, Marciano storm back and won rounds 9, 10 and 11. Round 11 was other Big Marciano round as he repeated his round 6 feat, hurting Charles, and thowing non stop. Round 12 seem about even, Than Rocky step up the pace and won rounds 13, 14, and 15.
The second fight showed The Rock's heart...his nose...split open to the bone.. stormed back to KO Charles and keep the title...
