I never appreciated the condition I was in at that time believe it or not. All that aerobic activity kept my body weight around 155 lbs. I remember thinking to myself I could not imagine not being able to run 5 miles. Fast foreword 35 years I am now 215 pounds. The extent of my workouts are 1-2 mile runs around my neighborhood. Occasionally I will punch a stationary bag in my garage.
Having a reach advantage in no way means you can outpunch an opponent with shorter reach. Speed, reflexes and TIMING determine how well you land blows not simply reach. A skilled opponent will slip a larger opponents jab, step in range, and land their own punches. Skill, speed, timing trump simply having longer arms every day in the week.
I was a completely overtrained 155 pound man. I was taking a course in nutrition at that time and they used me to demonstrate how to measure body fat %. I forget the number but it was shockingly low. My proper weight is probably around 195 lbs. In the past when I have watched my calorie intake and really tried working out regularly I would plateau right around 200. At 195-200 I could run 5 miles and felt trim.
Unless the fighter with the longer arms possesses these attributes to an equal extent too! Having a reach advantage is in itself not particularly significant but if both men are of about equal skill, it can mean that the longer armed opponent has the ability to hit his man whilst his opponent is out of range with his own punches, and consequently cannot land his own punches.
LOL. That guy calls anyone who disagrees with any of his tired cliches "amateurs," "noobs," and "idiots" (think he even called me a dummy once), and you're crying because some of us find his outlandish workout tales amusing.
