I suppose Marciano never dominated anything? You’d think 49-0 43 KOs would satisfy some but I suppose not. Boxing is about control. Controlling distance and pace. Something Marciano did extremely well. You don’t have to be a speed demon to do so. Why you can’t admit that idk

He had a short stay at the elite level which featured a narrow variety of players, smaller, older opponents. He went life and death with many of these but he won because he was an animal whose fighting spirit went beyond his physical limitations.

He woulda doubled the daily Spaghetti to make a comfortable tualike 226 italian pounds.
Then at the weigh-in, you could see Tysons knees shake a little.

    That’s a fair assessment.

no, I never said speed was only aesthetic. I said speed aesthetically appears to have more value than actually landing punches. Ultimately landing more punches wins fights.

I’m asking, given the choice, what is more important, landing more punches or “speed”. I don’t care how fast somebody is, the guy landing more wins the fight.

here we go, another uncalled for attack.

Nothing dishonest in saying fights are won by who lands the most punches.

If the fight was being conducted in 1988, say, Marciano would weigh 200lbs for the fight. Those are the rules.

Well...Marciano could be 200-210 if he wanted! But he favored stamina over muscle mass!I have picture if Tyson and Patterson!Same height,reach...Tyson just a bit bulkier! Now I remmember Floyd sitting with Rocky before Chuvalo fight!Floyd looked small and you can see Rocky is a bigger man!He was 270lb at the time he retired and made Patterson look small and Patterson had same size frame as Tyson but without muscle mass!

Floyd patterson was specially small. He was a narural lhw. However Joe Frazier in his prime shape was as thick as Marciano was when was fat and retired. Frazier and Tyson had wider thorax than marciano but Rocky was how strong as a heavier guy because he had thick arms and legs but was a little lighter because had narrow shoulders and thorax.
Btw: rocky would be a beach ball at 270. He was a porky at 215-220 when retired. Marciano could not carry more than 195 pounds being in shape. Another thing is training weights

Marciano weighed Around 200 for the computer fight but flabby pounds, i doubt that he weighed 212 and he never weighed 200 pounds in his pro career. His heaviest weight was 192 pounds and his lightest 178

He was about 260 when he trained down for the computer fight. Believe he was 215-220 for the computer fight(said the weight in one of his biographies) and he was an old man and carried it with room to spare. Modern diet and training is assume he could be 205-220 without it affecting him. Anything over would probably slow him down to much and start affecting flexibility.
