Why would it with today’s training methods? Obviously it would affect his stamina. But he would have gains in strength and probably speed to be honest in this era (working out with weights and PEDs would make anyone more explosive if done right). This is all hyperbole anyhow. But if you look at the computer fight he looks much slimmer then say Tua. Above 220 I’m not sure he would be able to accomplish the crouch and lean style that propelled him to dominance. Kind of like how Andy Ruiz can’t bend his knees to avoid and get under punches.
I didn’t mean to imply no affects. Maybe I wrote out my thoughts wrong. But I should say he would be able to compete at the highest levels at that weight
Lol... Marciano looked crap in the computer fight and still he was around 13 pounds lighter than a prime tua. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/70/6f/d3/706fd3013a804d5368bb24aa3a450dbb.jpg Look at Tua even past his prime at 237 pounds looked much better than Marciano at 210 https://m.zimbio.com/photos/Lance+Revill/David+Tua+v+Shane+Cameron+Weigh/npwqxTbA_Sl
Come on, Rocky was better fighter than Tua but David had far bigger frame than Rocky. I can't imagine him fighting at 185 lbs.
This is completely absurd. Marciano's best asset, his stamina, would be completely defeated by putting on 20 pounds, let alone 40. Any competitive runner can tell you the difference that even a few pounds can make in performance. Or is it, again, that Marciano is superhuman and the normal rules of physiology don't apply to him? Add to the rather obvious stamina issue, there is the issue of flexibility and mobility. Marciano was already deficient in ring mobility, slow of foot and often off-balance. Added weight is only going to negatively effect this. And moreso, Marciano's main defense was his deep, exaggerated bend from the waist. His back was already thrashed by the end of his career. How long would it last if he tried to use the same approach 20, let alone 40, pounds heavier? How effective would he even be executing this sort of elusiveness? In my mind, he would only become a sitting duck, a human punching bag for his more athletic foes. Again, this all seems like Athletics 101. Why does it even need repeating to people who supposedly follow sport?
I have 2 sons and both are bigger than me - my brothers wife is 5'2 but his son is still as big as him 6' 1 - Mike Tyson lost to Henry Tillman in the under 200lb heavyweight fight class not the super heavyweight fight class - he gained about 15 lbs of muscle when he turned pro- not a lot- In Marciano's era weight lifting was a no no - If Tyson was born in the 50's thing would have been different and he may have also gained mental strength but lost the ability to gain muscle - also Cus D'amato was a strong moral support and key to Tyson's foundation if he went back to the 50's he may not have Cus
Nice try avoiding to reply what he said, the truth. Tua carried perfectly 225 pounds because he had much wider frame than marciano
It is truth. Tyson was developed early and still he could fight at hw(200 pounds limit) in the amateurs not super hw like Foreman(226),Bowe(216) or lewis( 220)
