Good stuff man. Takes courage to post footage, so props.

By looking at this, I'm definitely more advanced than you.
I would consider all of those arm punches by my definition.
And I definitely hit much harder.
You do have some good torque on your punches when you twist your hips into the bag. And you are punching through he target nicely.

Your straight punches look sharp, but you are loading up on them. Obviously it's hard to see too much because you don't have much room to work with there.

    Again, good stuff!

    Damn boi you're a HW?
How old are you now, and how come you stopped if you don't mind me asking?

Do you know how much that bag weighs?
I punch harder. If you ever want to compare though you can try the aqua bag so we're hitting the same thing.

I am in my early 20s. Yeah when i was still training, in really good shape with abs and all that i was 200-205 at 6 foot even. I broke my ankle doing roadwork when i was 18. The video is from shortly after that When it had healed i was in College, and had alot of other personal things going on, then i moved to europe so i never got back to it. I never stopped loving or watching boxing, but i havent participated in years. The only excercise ive done then is lifting weights(which i did here and there in high school but fell in love with after i broke my ankle) and the occasional running. Right now i live a good 40 miles away from the next boxing gym.

From what you say, it sounds like you've been blessed with very good natural power. That being said, I don't mean to sound like a hater but from the video clip I saw, I'm very surprised that you've been told you're the second hardest puncher in a gym full of serious fighters.

You'd probably make a lot more progress with more one-on-one attention. I made a lot of progress in the brief time I worked out at boxing gyms by working one-on-one with pro trainers who sweated all the small things. Did pads with one guy who would pop me with a foam noodle if I went too low with uppercuts, too wide with my hooks, or if I was too loose with my guard, etc. He also had me do drills that really helped my lateral movement (something that didn't come very natural for me).

    I hear you man.
    You're still young.
I'm in my mid-late twenties and I think if I really wanted to, I could do well in boxing.
So it's definitely not too late for you. They say if you don't start before you're 18 you have a big disadvantage. And that's true to some extent but you can easily make up for it if you ask me. Plus I feel like fighters today are primed at a higher age, and have more long term durability than 30 years ago.

Not second hardest, one of the two hardest!
There's also a great SHW prospect who I think punches harder than me. I haven't seen him really let loose on the bag though, so I'm not positive. But I have to assume he hits harder because he's a freaking monster. Would not be surprised if he fought for or won a title in 5 years.

My camera angle does me no favors.
But the best reference you'll have here is the aqua bag. It absorbs a lot of power. But you can see many professional fighters using the same bag, like the video of Golovkin that I posted.

I can't speak on your experiences. But it sounds like the way many fighters at my gym are trained. My style is definitely not the norm.

Not that similar for me, Joe. Both Rocky and Saad have the left foot in front but Matthew throws the left rather than right hand so it is more a hook cum uppercut. Like Razor Ruddock's smash only more vertical. Slightly more controlled than the uppercut where the foot on the opposite side of the punching arm is advanced but again, while I can't argue with the devastating effect of the punch (check the gumshield), it is a really unusual delivery and I feel again that its power was in spite of, rather than due to, Saad's punching technique.

Because you can throw hard punches on the heavy bag? (honest question)

    For sure.
You might like what age does to you too.
Your body is more developed and mature, and you'll feel stronger and better.
