This is not really a question of who d win as such but could Rocky do, what Holyfield couldn't, and stop Larry Holmes? Holyfield got some flack for not being able to to even put Larry down, but of course Holmes has a ATG chin. So anyway, how's Marciano instead do??
Against that version of Holmes? I think Marciano has a very good chance of stopping Larry. Prime for prime, I like Holmes.
The avarage of all fighters Rocky fought including his first title fight is 9,4 rounds. This includes a Walcott KO1 with Walcott miscalculating getting up. If we view this as an outlier, its 10,8 rounds avr. Holmes went 12 with prime Holyfield, beat Mercer and went another 12 with McCall. He got twice the whiskers of chinny Walcott, too. Therefore, on a rational basis, I don´t see any reason Rocky stopping durable LH in 12. Walcott outboxed him in his first meeting. This one would be close and would result in decision for anyone of them. RM has zero chance of beating a prime LH. We are talking about a boxer matched with likes of Wlad, Lewis, Tyson and Ali. These guys were three levels and 20-50 pounds above median Rocky opponent. Stop this viral nonsense please.
Rocky stops 90s Larry in 7 or 8 rounds after eating a bunch of heavy jabs and a couple of strong right hands. Prime for prime Rocky gets cut to pieces and ends up getting knocked all over the ring when the blood makes it so he's not able to see the right hands. He gets floored in the 8th by a sneaky straight right and battered upon arising. 9th round RTD for Holmes.
Prime for prime its Holmes every time for me. This version of Larry, I don't think he's got much chance of winning.. But as for being stopped? I'm not sure, cagey Holmes, all time great chin and it's not the 88 version where he had a few months to get in order. Im gonna say Larry makes it to the final bell but maybe a few more bruises than he started with.
I might have been thinking more of the 88 Grandpa Holmes with nearly two years of ring rust. 90s Holmes couldn't seem to be knocked down, much less stopped (even when McCall seemingly rocked his world in the 9th and Mercer in the 1st rounds of their fights. If he was going to go down in the 90s, those most certainly would have been the times. The McCall shot was certainly of Tyson quality power-wise imo).
Yep, it's true, after Tyson he never really seemed in that much danger, maybe those rounds you mentioned and that Kd?? With Butterbean. That's not to say Rocky couldn't in a million years stop him but Im more inclined to think he stays on his feet.
Fighter/Rounds Walcott 13 Walcott 1 LaStarza 11 Charles 15 Charles 8 Cockell 9 Moore 9 --> (13+1+11+15+8+9+9)R/7 = 9,4 rounds Where is that quick knockout artist pattern in championchip fights? Median weight of 49 fighters Rocky fought: 189lb Larry Holmes prime weight: 209(Norton) to Marvis Frazier (219): 214lb Prime Wlad/Lewis weight: 240lb Difference: 240lb-189lb = 51lb Difference 214lb-189lb = 25lb --> Holmes to Lewis/Wlad were 25-51lb heavier than Rockys opponents. None of my numbers are off even the slightest Do you need another antiviral? How´s your Rockista therapy going atm?
Ali hit harder than Williams is that what you are saying? Satterfield also ko'd Bob Baker,Lee Oma,John Holman, and Julio Mederos . I don't have a crowd ,just some fellow posters who also can detect BS and deliberate lying.
You said all Rocky’s fights. In which case his knock out rate is like the sixth best in history. Also when you fight top ranked guys the fights should be going longer. Shame he only knocked em all out in an average of 9 rounds. His average ten round fight went about 4.9 rounds if I remember correctly. If you added in the lower level guys way better. The average Marciano opponent out weighed him by about ten pounds on average around 194-196 I forget. Nice of you to cherry pick. Please tell me genius how many men Marciano faced over 200+ and how long those fights went? Hint, they didn’t last long. AJ was just outweighed by Ruiz by about 50 pounds didn’t do him much good.
I'm not sure tbh, even if it was a Kd, it was literally the only second that Holmes actually lost to Bean .
