For precisely the legitimate reason I mentioned. Jaco at least has one famous win. Which when you look at it, has to count for something within a sport where there are names out there that are celebrated for less. Like Cleveland Williams. And it is a pity. I listed a bunch of fighters rated at Heavyweight who Moore beat. I believe Nino, Baker and Henry were ranked. There were other who were rated at both heavy and lightheavyweight of the period who were beating good heavyweights that Moore also beat. Like Johnson. Like Bivins. Like Maxim. And there are others. Yes I credited Moore for beating them because he did beat them. Nothing unfair with that. Yes I credited them for being ranked because they all had heavyweight rankings.
They were not ranked when he fought them and I posted that fact, but you ignored it until I flushed you out! Do you know something I'm beginning to really,no I won't go there just **** off you boring twerp!
This content is protected Joe Louis still had enough to KO Nino Valdes in 1 round Exhibition in 1950 - Louis fought Marciano in 1951 - I guess Louis still had some Pop left - this was an article prior to Moore-Valdes 2
You tell me .. in consecutive posts you discounted his performance against Olsen, stated he struggled w Johnson with no mention of Johnson's credentials as a terrific fighter in his own right and surgically chose to repeat one statement Moore made in 1970 that is in direct contrast to dozens of other comments he made before and after .. not exactly ringing endorsements .. I say that Moore was as excellent a fighter in his late 30's as I have ever seen and still a terrific fighter when he fought Marciano. To me that was Rocky's best win.
Louis said his last real good fight, when he felt like his old self was against Mauriello. That was 1946, 4 years before . Louis retired in 48 to comeback 2 years later.Do you think he was remotely still the same fighter?
I said koing a moderate middleweight champion is no gauge of how you are in your career and I stand by that. A past prime Robinson looked just as impressive and got the job done quicker and he was the same size as Olson. My point about Johnson was exactly what you touched on,he was a level above Olson and so Moore didn't look so special against him. A year after losing to Marciano Moore was comfortably despatched by Patterson in 5 rounds. Do you think he deteriorated that precipitously in one year? Would you post some of these dozens of statements by Moore that contradict what he said in that interview please?
Well that dosnt say much for Nino Valdes then. Louis knocked Nino spark out in a public exhibition just one round four years later.
Joe Louis for me was the finest Heavyweight Champion of all time- He was not at all a prime Joe Louis but he still had enough to KO Nino Valdes in 1 round in 1950 - Louis also had the misfortune to comeback against a Great fighter in Ezzard Charles and then fight an upcoming great in Marciano in 1951 - In the 1980's or the 1990's he may have picked up a title - I could see an old Louis KO Michael Moorer
I suggest you read what the contemporary scribes thought of a 1950 Louis. With those declining reflexes and concrete feet, he would be raw meat for the assassins in the 90's.
Not at all. They said the end was near, that his reflexes were going and that he better make money quickly because the tank was running dry.
