I dont see Henry Ray Hall Schkor Gilliam Valentino Valdes On his career fight record. No need to address the fatuous remark gratuitously tacked on the end ,why dignify garbage with a response?
When I make a statement I am prepared to back it up.I'm not responsible for others not feeling either, the necessity, or obligation to do likewise. I just give their comments the requisite gravitas/credibility that a refusal to confirm such comments deserves.
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE. Poster Alert! There are some here who are known to be economical with the truth!
Well the remark was popular enough to gain quite a few likes. Joe Louis’s comeback resume was better than Cleveland Williams entire career.
A source ,his mother said Moore was 2 years older than he claimed.Nobody was too sure how old Walcott was.
No actually it isn't ,both fought and beat 2 ranked contenders and Williams also beat several that had recently been ranked or would be within a year! Now do you think you can manage to make a post without mentioning Williams, who has **** all to do with this thread? Or are you going to play at being a **** all your life?
Joe Louis knocked out Elmer Ray. Joe Louis knocked out Pat Valentino. Joe Louis knocked out Nino Valdes. Joe Louis knocked out Ray Augustus. Joe Louis knocked out Dixie Lee Oliver. Joe Louis knocked out Al Hooseman. Joe Louis knocked down Johnny Shkor in a ten rounder newspaper decision contest. And there is probably a lot more evidence of Louis dominating these opponents he had between title fights with Wallcot and Ezzard Charles. Louis was the fighter the crowds came to see and he always delivered. They were fought without headgear and were “exhibition” in name only. This content is protected
Bloody hell I had no idea these ‘exhibitions’ happened! They look like full on fights to me! Poor old Pat must of thought the same!
A lot of exhibitions back then were full on fights! Louis had at least two exhibitions, where the title would have changed hands, if he had been knocked out!
Depends what way you look at it. Louis was the unbeaten champion. Louis was in the ring ( and knocking men out) the whole time from beating Walcott in June 1948 until September 1950. Some 70 odd times Louis was in the ring in front of a paid audience in just 27 months. Then from September 1950, when he lost to Charles, until September 1951 Louis wins another 9 fights. In October 1950 Louis fights Marciano. To have a comeback, a fighter must first be inactive or retired. Seems to me Louis never went away. What was Louis coming back from? Fighting 20-30 times a year?
Don't fall for it. None of these exhibitions were against contenders. Valentino had been left blind in one eye by his loss to Ezzard Charles and his career was already over.
