I know this is an extremely tough concept to understand, but if being 22 gives you no age advantage over a 30 year old, then a 22 year old doesn't really have a 17 year age advantage over a 39 year old...takes some time but you can get it.
What logic? Just listing facts. No leap of faith required, as James Brown once said "what it is is what it is" -Sure, Tyson was Kid Dynamite. By definition he was a very young athletic prodigy running over much older men. YOu don't seem to have a problem with this, in fact you consider it a great credit to Tyson. So why is Marciano's considerable less age advantage a negative? Hypocrisy? Favortism? This interests me. -Considering their similar stature, would you call Tyson a lil black midget? Do you harvest some hatred for the Italian people? :think
Wow, this is interesting logic. So according to you not even a physical one of a kind freak like Tyson at 21 has no age advantage over a 38 year old. (I assume that's what you meant, as I listed no example with those numbers) So would you say an injury ridden 32 year old has no age advantage over a 38 year old? It seems to me that the fighters with only a 6 year difference in age would be more on a level playing field, that would be the most logical assumption. Are you saying that Tyson was somehow at an age disadvatnage against Larry Holmes...wow, that is very interesting indeed. take your time, I'm sure you can get it.
The age of fighters isn't always the true indicator of form. Obviously, in general, 28 is better than 38. But that doesn't mean all 28 year olds are better than all 38 years olds ! We know some of Tyson's opponents were finished and washed-up at 29 or 30, and others ruined by drugs, or experiencing serious slumps in form or inactivity for whatever reason. It's funny how Tyson-maniacs try to minimize all that, but at the same time they are quick to note that Tyson himself was in decline at 22 !
Absolutely, just find it interesting that Marciano is the one often accused of exploiting old men when the facts tale a different story.

These Tyson fanatics are incredible. I thought a lot of him but could not ignore the fact that he quit every time the going got real rough and only once (trail horse Ribalta) did he stop a man after the 8th rd. Another Tyson fact he never got off the floor to win. One thing about" the Little Italio Dago" as Seamus called Rocky is he proved all that and was always in condition to impose his will and had the late power to do so. I think Marciano's color hurts him more than helps him with certain posters and my guess is most of those posters are white. True fans of Marciano are black and white. Joe Frazier said he was # 2 behind Louis and Hagler said he had Marciano and Ali at the top.
marciano would have been a cruiserweight in tyson's era and would have cleaned house there as long as holyfield was out of the division.
