    Wrong.

After the Tyson fight, Holmes went on to be *very* competitive with top HWs in the early 90's. Loius was done after the Marciano fight.

Tyson's win over Holmes >>> Marciano's win over Louis.

he definitely is underrated as far as ATG status goes. With today's advancements in training and nutrition, he would be 215-220 of solid muscle. As it stands, he was already one of the most dedicated and in-shape fighters in history. just a tough fighter who had unbelievable resolve and determination.

His power today with better training would be a thing of beauty.

For the record, I don't rank Marciano nor Tyson in my top 10 at HW, but they're almost there, alongside Wlad.

  5. But before the Marciano fight Louis had like an 8 fight win streak,my point being that Louis and Holmes were both decent when they were older fighters.

  6. Well I think they are both top ten but Marciano was never beaten. Marciano was a little better.

Marciano: underrated everything. Unparalleled mental toughness, ring smarts, huge leverage from incredibly strong legs that resulted in epic power, as well-conditioned an athlete that has ever lived, defense that was vastly underrated and unorthodox. Monster fighter. ATG. No one around 185 to 205 would even come close. Holyfield, Frazier (one of my AT favorites). No one.

You don't know how that extra muscle would affect him. He wasn't that big. If he was, he would have been a natural 200+ pounder. Others have been in history. He trained down to 185 because that's where he felt his best specifically in one department...STAMINA. Without Stamina, he is a lesser fighter.

Louis wasn't that good. Compare footage of his fights in the 30's vs. 50's. It's sad to watch him in the 50's era.

I think Louis said the last fight he felt anything like his old self was in the

For his time he was the greatest heavyweight, the greatest ever at that point. You study his movments closely and he was a very tricky fighter. He would fake with slow punches and even use different rhythms to his head movements. He would set a pattern for a short time and then change it totally around something he constantly did throughout his fights.

Some people maybe think that he was not a very cerebral boxer, but look at his fights against Walcott, Charles and Lastarza he was figuring out these boxing masterminds and schooling them in the rematch.

Charles was 32/33 years of age when he fought Rocky. Add his birth age to the years he fought, wars he fought, losses...wear and tear....what age was he really?

Walcott was 38 years old. Years in the ring. Wear and tear. KO losses.

Louis. Forget birth age. He was just OLD because of life.

Archie Moore: I hear they dug up a statue of him in Athens. He participated in the first Olympic Games.

    Who else you got?

    Tyson:

How old was Tucker, Spinks, Thomas, Biggs, Ruddock, Smith, Berbick, etc?

Marciano was great, for his era and for fighters under 200 pounds, but I think Prime Louis was better. He also had longevity. Marciano didn't last that long as Champ. I think 3 active years and 6 title defenses.
