On Rex Laynes Wikipedia page it says this:
Marciano's knockout punch sheared off four of Layne's upper, front teeth at the gumline and sent his mouthpiece bouncing with teeth included out of the ring.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Would be pretty crazy if true.

He broke Layne's bridgework, the rest is BS. Now I'll be accused of hating on Rocky some more!
In comparison Joe Louis drove Braddock's teeth through his gumshield into his lips.
Louis also smashed Uzcudun's gold teeth out onto the canvas a reporter said," they lay there like a charm bracelet." Marciano hit hard enough to loosen and probably knock out teeth, but he didn't sheer off Layne's teeth at the gums.

Old timers had teeth knocked out but they weren't wearing gumshields.Joe Choynski hit Jeffries so hard he drove part of his lip between his front teeth and it had to be scissored off between rounds!
Johnson knocked out several of Ketchels molars.

Boy, I never knew just how great Rocky Marciano was until the facts finally caught up with me in late 2016.

Well, here is an excerpt from the UPI report the day after the fight, July 13, 1951, printed in the Pittsburg Press

"Layne--bleeding from a six-stitch gash on his left brow, from his nose and his mouth, with two teeth knocked out and his bridgework smashed, lay grotesquely on his left side."

Not the least bit surprised. Marciano was a force of nature.

It is true, but that happens now and then in boxing. It is crazy, but Rocky was a very hard hitter, so why not, considering the damage he inflicted on Layne - his mouthpiece flew out of the ring.

    No it did not!
We have the film to show us this did not happen.
Why are you so desperate to continue with this fallacy?
Originally you said his teeth and his gumline, ['Im assuming you meant gumshield,] flew out of the ring ,film of the fight shows this is a falsehood .I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, but if you keep repeating this BS the only logical conclusion that can be arrived at is you are deliberately lying.

No mention of teeth or mouthpiece being sent flying out of the ring.

We have a low-quality video of the fight as there can't be any other, that is proof so poor only you can come out with it. Since several sources are indeed saying his mouthpiece went out of his mouth, which isn't something unique for boxing, consider the damage Layne took, it is absolutely possible that it happened and you can't solidly prove it didn't which is cool because it seems this will eat you for life.
